Day 56

LOG: 9:30am - 1:30pm, 3:00pm - 5:00pm.  6 hr

After my fizz out last week, recovery was in order this morning.  Spent a couple hours pre-log on mentality and motivation, and I feel like I am back on track now.

Also, it's nice to be moved back into the big room.  Going to need a higher chair though.

Goals (from Day 42)

"NEW Goals:

-Find old video editing files, folders, raw video-editing-format files from Magix, etc.

-Install Magix Video editor

-Remake the video to say "fill in your information on the opt-in box you see on this page"

-Have the front page opt-in (aweber) lead to the core content video (the pre-cursor to the adv series)

NEW Goal:

-Setup front page opt-in to lead to core content video page with Aweber.

-Remake anything on that video that mentions "Advanced Series for free" ; "Opt-in" ; "naturalcuresforinsomnia.org" ... etc

-Setup the sales letter to be the logical next step from the core content video to sell the advanced series, from there next logical step will be to buy advanced series.

NEW Goal:
-I will need to review the advanced series before I can sell it.  Make sure it doesn't say anything about it being free or it being a sales pitch for mastery, etc.

-If it's shitty or I don't feel at liberty to sell it, I have the option of selling it ALONG WITH Mastery, making a stronger sales letter and allowing me to go out and start making money and proving the new funnel concept works before I break up the products to deepen my backend.  I ultimately MUST make the funnel sell advanced series at a $20-100 price point so I can then sell the Mastery course at a $200+ price point.  That's how this business is going to make money -- although I will need the data to support that, I'll need to test selling at different price points."

ORIGNAL NOVEMBER GOALS:

November's New ROARS Goals based on October's Achievements:
-Domain & funnel setup pre-product (nov. week 1 goal)
-Product setup, everything works successfully and it's ready to be sold (week 2 goal)
-Google analytics setup
-old URL NaturalCuresForInsomnia.org setup as redirect
-5 backlinks made on places online that drive traffic, and I want to see SOME organic traffic coming in from those links on analytics.

Minor additional goals -- these don't need to be done today, they are just part of the funnel / video editing process:

• Get skeleton pages setup for every part of the funnel process.
• Review videos and note timestamps for where changes need to be made.

I have recovered all the data from the old hard drive, now I am going to try to get magix back to run it.

Got Magix working, old videos are in tact!

Can't edit videos as mouse reflects off desk and is very skippy, also this chair doesn't adjust up/down... so went to office depot and got that stuff plus some things I need around here like pens.

So... some days the work ends up being all utility.  Did things that just had to be done today, like get a mouse pad, office chair, installed software I needed as a tool, and recovered the old product and funnel content for editing.  Just those things consumed about 6 hours.

PASS.  Good to be recovering, go ham tomorrow, thanksgiving break is coming soon.

Days 51 - 53

11/17/15 - 11/19/15 No work on ROARS was done.

Something about burning out.  Bad week.

Day 50

LOG: 5pm - 6:45pm

Sunday (Day 49) was a ski day.  Hour goal adjusted for this week: 5-10 hours on ROARS.

Ski guidelines:

During the core season (Nov. through Apr.) 1 Sunday per month AVERAGE is okay to ski instead of working on ROARS and grey out.  There can be 2 or 3 in a month so long as the average is once a month over that period.

The reason for this guideline is that I am not going to be young enough to do whatever I want on the snow for much longer.  As it is my great passion in life aside from being an entrepreneur, I won't sacrifice my youth completely in this area.  I choose to compromise here... and this is the  compromise.

This is what's on the agenda.  As far as the new "product development detour" goes, 2 things:

1. Look at this as part of setting up the funnel.  It's part of that goal for now.  It will be minor tweaks.  If anything, sell the "combo" as you put it and make your main goal for now just to get it established and start driving some traffic.  Once you make some sales, then we can revisit amping up the product.

2. You need to develop a tight deadline and specific goals as you move forward.  If we're clearing out the original goals for November and December, I need to know that I can get this all done quickly enough to get back to those main goals QUICKLY.  This shouldn't sink me more than a month behind.  Even if I decide I MUST remake the advanced series (and maybe re-name it the "how to cure insomnia series" or something) it can still be 100x faster than the original development of mastery since I've already made the bulk of my product this time around -- in 2010 & 2011 I still had to make some good content, but now that step has already been completed.

Okay, the core content -- sales letter for opt-in & original cure insomnia video, main sales letter, and typed scripts of the "Cure Insomnia" video series parts 1-3 are all backed up on google drive.  Just in time too... right after I got the content my website went down "Error establishing a database connection".  Based on how old all it is, the whole thing could be fried already.

Or hell, test to start for now, why not?  tomorrow, set up the opt in and just make them opt in, start a new email list, see if this traffic is "real" or not :).  All you do is slap the main video on there, have them opt in, then give them the whole series right away for free with a note explaining why (since the site is in a transition period and the products are being re-worked, here's the entire series right now.)

Who knows, maybe this is all delayed results from traffic geyser back in the day or something.  DEFINITELY TEST IT ASAP!  I'll take the list if I can get it and hell, maybe it's ripe to start making decent money with this OUT THE GATE!

(Don't get too excited though, lol... 400 unique hits in 12 days, however most was the first 8 days, the last 4 have been a huge drop off, may be some wierd search engine ranking due to the site coming back online or something, and now that they figured out the site is garbage that's going away.)  Either way, start getting opt-ins off traffic IMMEDIATELY.

Thursday, Nov. 12 was Day 46

I did show up to work!!  LOG at least 1 hour -- didn't log or blog due to the whole issue being the computer & old hard drive.

MAY have shot myself in the foot by screwing up the permissions on the old.  MIGHT have to re-create the videos from scratch now....

Product Development Detour

At the end of the day, some of this stuff simply needs to be re-created.  I need to do product work.  It's a tough pill to swallow but the way the funnel NEEDS to be (opt in for core video, THEN core video is free, THEN $40-50 product, THEN Mastery @ $100-300) REQUIRES that I re-do the $40-50 product.  I can't sell garbage and I can't sell make a profit selling Mastery for pennies on the dollar.

The alternative is, for NOW, I can sell the combo as is... but even THAT requires making sure the product isn't a sales pitch for mastery... at the very least, I need to go over everything.

So there's a new direction that is going to slow down the "just set up the funnel and go" goals outline I have currently.

Day 45

The focus today will be towards the following since hostgator still has not answered my support ticket in 3 days now.  Plus, I gotta do this anyways.

So it's time to shut down this bad boy and break out the old hard drives...

I was able to get all the really old stuff off the 08 drive but after searching a while and noticing the last modified dates i realized it was going to be on the other drive -- thats where 2010 - 2012 is going to be.

So i plugged it in only to discover it is not accessable without a full check disk.  Check disc is sorting it out, there are unreadable file segments and corrupt attribute records.  It will take all night to scan so im going to let it run and goto bed.

Day 44

Day 44 was Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015

Doctor's appointment and finding a psychiatrist in the place of work on ROARS.  Pre-determined, so no loss of integrity.

Instead of pushing the 6-7pm hour I relaxed as well... the 2.75 hour shift from Monday and the back to back 5.5 push days kind of burned me out.

Day 43

Log: 4:30p - 7:15p -- 2.75 hours -- too much...

HowToCureInsomnia.com installed on server.

-not installed: membership site ability "BuddyPress" makes social network on your blog.  SUPER cool. #membership
-Yoast SEO installed -- warning -- do not update when available, brand new updates are known to break functionality.
-not installed: Yoast Google Analytics -- prob the way to go on this?  Maybe just input into Salient, dunno.
-not activated (but is installed) TablePress -- makes tables!


Goals Achieved:

-Create wordpress on site (on actual URL, not IP) & install SEO plugin RIGHT AWAY before salient.

The URL is done, so I can actually do this now, this can get done this week.  This can all be done in 15 minutes or less.  Installing Salient will be done immediately after, again, this will only take a few minutes

-Get the main salient blog established and get the video and opt-in on the front page.

This is where the goals change...

Also I did a little work on implementing the core design and changing some things.  For the final video I'm going to want to use a custom player with a thumbnail image that interfaces nicely with the header background -- otherwise having a floating video on the page looks super awkward.  Hence Ed Dale using a simple white page on his stuff.

I'd love to keep it youtube for the views but that just doesn't work, it's not professional and will hurt conversion, it'll redirect people, and it won't interface with the "solution" 20 minute video -- That one can't be youtube, after all, or it'll piss people off that they gave their email just to get access to a free youtube video.
