A little too much variation in voice at the beginning comes across as a sort of filter or bad editing.
Near the end, you start sounding like a 20 year old. "I think you got too into it" says Dad. When I think back to how this was recorded, I remember the point being to throw myself into the emphasis on the words, but I think I did so in a way that loses some of the professionalism and authority. Ideally, you are emphasizing with major impact from an authoritative position, so instead of feeling pushed to buy, they feel like it'd be stupid not to buy.
You'll hear it, it's whenever your voice goes a little higher frequency.
So the final editing pass with deal with smoothening out some of the audio with a few re-records, fixing the repeating line near the beginning, touching up a few of the transitions, and putting in music. Approx 4-8 hours needed.
More emphasis should be on video 1 since that will be NON-EDITABLE once it's got links going to it and has been on youtube for a month or two. Video 2 is editable, so it's more important to start selling than it is to get it perfect. No traffic, no sales.

CDC 6 Day 42
8:30a - 2:30p ; 4:30p - 5:30p
09:00 - 10:00: Obj.3.1a (1/4)
10:00 - 11:00: Obj.3.1a (2/4)
11:00 - 12:00: Obj.3.1a (3/4)
12:00 - 01:00: Su.Lunch (7/10)
01:00 - 01:30: Chores
01:30 - 02:30: Obj.3.1a (4/4)
02:30 - 04:30: Break
04:30 - 05:30: Obj.3.1b (1/20)
09:00 - 10:00: Obj.3.1a (1/4)
10:00 - 11:00: Obj.3.1a (2/4)
11:00 - 12:00: Obj.3.1a (3/4)
12:00 - 01:00: Su.Lunch (7/10)
01:00 - 01:30: Chores
01:30 - 02:30: Obj.3.1a (4/4)
02:30 - 04:30: Break
04:30 - 05:30: Obj.3.1b (1/20)
Next Step 1 - Finish Outline of Videos 3-5
I have created an outline - now I need to REVIEW all the old content, and think through what I want to create, and get a full picture. Really set up a beautiful sketch and scaffold, you know?
Next Step 2 - Obj 3.1 Needs to be broken down into chunks
That's the only way I'll be able to press myself to "good enough" deadlines
MUST LOOK AT 'GOOD ENOUGH' CONCEPT FIRST!!!! So break it up via this concept. That is my next step after finishing the outline.
Realistic Time Scales:
3.1a Outlining: 4 hours
3.1b Writing: 20 hours
Realistic Time Scales:
3.1a Outlining: 4 hours
3.1b Writing: 20 hours
- Video 1 - 10 hours (since self-therpy section needs research)
- Video 2 - 4 hours (since mostly done already)
- Video 3 - 6 hours
3.1c Recording: 5 hours
- 45m per video, can record in double that
3.1d Editing Audio: 5 hours
- Should be able to beat 5 hours, but definitely shouldn't take longer since I will mostly just be trusting the audio and simply cutting out gaps and repeats.
3.1e PowerPoint Slides: 10 hours
- Cutting the text and breaking up into 50-100 slides per video shouldn't take long at all. I can do that super sloppy. However, getting the pictures in, touching up diagrams, and making it look the way I want will slow it down. This is where "good enough" is going to really need to get implemented.
3.1f Reviewing / Final Tweaks: 4 hours.
3.1g Uploading: 2 hours.
TOTAL: 50 hours.
Power-point & Audio
Read the audio into the sound booth as normal, BUT
I recommend pausing between each Paragraph and editing out the gaps. It allows me to setup and sound great each time.

CDC 6 Day 29
5p - 7p
05:00 - 06:00: Obj.2.1c (33/35.5)
06:00 - 07:00: Obj.2.1c(34/35.5)
Yup, I just learned how to do animations and make videos in powerpoint. Pretty awesome fucking night. And you were gonna do it in FLASH, lol!
05:00 - 06:00: Obj.2.1c (33/35.5)
06:00 - 07:00: Obj.2.1c(34/35.5)
PRODUCT VIDEOS: USE POWERPOINT.
Now that I know how to easily animate in powerpoint, and how to record according to timestamp...
WHY THE FUCK
Would I cut and paste 100 photo slides
When I can just render 1 powerpoint. I can literally click through the animations AS I LISTEN to the recording to make the vast majority of the editing ON POWERPOINT, IN REAL TIME.
MUCH, MUCH FASTER, and it will even look more legit.

CDC 5 Day 73
5-6p
05:00 - 06:00: Obj.2.1c (29 / 34)
05:00 - 06:00: Obj.2.1c (29 / 34)
Order of Operations - Slide Development
I am about to time out and render the slides.
A convenient video size looks to be about 2 minutes, which will mean 20 videos @ about 10 slides per video.
NOW, as far as numbering goes, its important to note the following:
PRIMARY SLIDES ARE "HEADING 1".
They are also being saved as V2.Type10/20/## - with no note.
SHOULD YOU ADD SLIDES AFTER THIS POINT, MAKE SURE YOU USE ADDING "HEADING 2" SO FILLER SLIDES CAN HAVE THEIR OWN NUMBERING SYSTEM (and not fuck everything up.)

Guide to Storyboarding / Designing Slides in Long Videos
- Take video script, put on Google Docs (if not already there)
- Break it up into short slides - always go shorter than you need to.
NOTE: Any pictures or other variables associated with the slides should have a different type of naming system, for example "photo a, photo b", DO NOT NUMBER to go with slide #s unless complete and final and even then not a great idea. Better to write inside of the slide details "photo a".
Note: skipping sentences will make editing in the slides MUCH easier since it wont be as awkward if the editing isn't PERFECT down to the millisecond.
- Title slide based on which effect, theme, etc you will use and make each title a HEADING. Do not manually number.
- Use "Add-on" table of contents to auto number the slide titles. This way, if you add as you go, you don't have to renumber dozens or hundreds of slides every time.
- Once complete and final, make the slides using whatever photo or video editor and name each slide with its associated number.
NOTE: If you add content later, either make a separate file for "add on slides" and do a whole separate thing for them, or you will have to re-number all slide files. Add on slides are assumed to fit inbetween slides, so if there's 3 slides adding between 13 and 14, you could simply note that in the file for the adds ("addon slides 1-3 fit after original slide 13")
NOTE: With animoto, it may help to time out all the slides very precisely ahead of time and include the time to run on the slides sheet. Then, render all the slides at once, and cut them into the video. This should save A LOT of time vs. rendering in one by one.
- Add slides to video editor and your done - since they are named in a numbered order, the video will be nice and organized and easier to edit.
NOTE: As you add, jot down which slides are awkward, and what you'd change to fix them, but save this in the editing notes to be fixed in a separate batch of slides.
- Once all slides are edited in, repeat steps 5-6 with the batch of edited slides, so you are making all edits in batches. Do this more than once if needed.
- Final touches - now is the only time you should edit and render in single slides.

Slogan (maybe for the news letter): Insomnia advice that is so good it will put you to sleep.
5th Cliff Hanger technique: Hypnosis
Easier than meditation since it's guided, and designed to slow your brain down to the point of sleep. Then, "more on this at the end of the video, as I actually have a guided hypnosis i want to share with you."
Then, AFTER the benefits, throw in a "$20-40 value.. free" of your moms hypnosis cd, included with the cure insomnia series. Offer her $5 royalty per sale to include it with my product. Keep them as separate products, but they get hers when they buy mine.
Google Apps Script
https://developers.google.com/apps-script/
This is significant. You can add code to any google docs to make it do whatever you want.
Even MAIL MERGING, like with M$ Word -> Outlook.
Whatever you can think of, someone's probably already coded it, you'd just need to find that code and copy and paste.
This is a big insight that will serve me well down the road.

CDC 5 Day 25
05:30 - 06:30: Obj.2.1c (7/26)
Okay... so, this was setup, but still I need to point out a concern.
There's 40 minutes of audio, and I only got through 5 minutes in the first hour.
That means audio is going to take 8 hours.
I don't HAVE 8 hours to spend on audio. It needs to be done in 4.
So we're going to have to really pick up the pace on the next one.

Also, a treat from Ed Dale that I will almost inevitably use soon:
GAMECHANGER ALERT
You know I only use GAMECHANGER rarely.
I'm calling it on this new software for transcription and editing audio.
It use google AI and frankly freaking voodoo to alloe you to edit video BY EDITING TEXT
This should not be possible.
I've been testing it for the last few hours and THIS IS MAGIC.
It's MAC for now and Windows in the next couple of days.
I just fed it the audio of my latest stream and it transcribed WITH PUNCTUATION - INCLUDED WORDS I SHOULD HAVE SAID - ADDED PARAGRAPHS
Now of course it's not perfect BUT it's bloody good - and that's just for transcripts
Then you can cut an paste your AUDIO - WITH TEXT
Go to descript.com right now and see this voodoo for yourself.
Try it now - Seriously

Script / Audio Rec Advised - in middle of value leader video 1
When it gets to the counting sheep thing, between the chart, idea, and examples, it gets very dense in content. There needs to be slightly more to the breakdown to segway the concept to the examples "I like to watch documentaries".
So it should be like,
current:
CONCEPT - counting sheep to fall asleep doesnt work, im saying count sheep to stay awake.
new:
Of course, I'm just using sheep to illustrate an example - you can use ANYTHING that will hold your attention. As long as you pick the right kind of activity, it will work.
That being said, if you choose the WRONG activity, it won't work at all. If it's not interesting enough to hold your attention, you'll end up thinking about all the normal stuff that keeps you awake.
If it's too interesting, you'll get too engaged and the activity itself will keep you awake.
So you have to choose an activity that is you can enjoy enough to stay focused on, but not quite enough that you'll stay focused on it without effort. With things that are more boring, like counting the dots on your ceiling, you'll want set goals that you can get engaged with. With things that are too exciting, like a nature documentary, you'll want to lower the volume and dim the screen brightness causing you to strain slightly to stay focused.
Personally, ...
This is a debated topic since experts agree LED screens damage sleep, which is why I have an auto-sleep feature so the TV shuts off after 30 minutes.
Next Up
So I've written the script and recorded the audio for the next round of additions.
Next up the audio has to be edited down. There's 3 renditions already on the MAGIX @ the end, plus an extra optional addition for the "personally, ..." + the documentaries thing if you so choose to use either or both.
Then put it into the main mix and continue as normal.

03:00 - 06:00: Obj.1.2c3 (7.5/8) [this is going to take a LONG time]
NOTE: Can use blog post for ROARS Mindfulness, don't need separate pad
NOTE 2: Script AND Product name change: JUST "GUIDE", NOT "VIDEO GUIDE"
-Audio is close enough that it is ready for slides.
-This will also help fine tune edits - if i missed a repeating sentence, its caught when i put in the slide
-Also, this way I dont need to have script open, as slides will show where I am, making all editing easier.
-will final web be white?
-go with standard blue and orange theme. Works and saves time, right?
-yes. fuck it. web theme will adjust to fit the blue and orange theme later
-Working with animoto:
-slides will NOT match up perfectly, just get them close so they snap in by using the time clock from your main editor
-this is also 100x faster than trying to "preview" every slide... that would take FOREVER.
-EVEN LIKE THIS, IT STILL TAKES 2X+ LONGER than the traditional slides method, since these slides are set to the AUDIO, not the script (the can't be edited much once rendered.)
-animoto tricks you into see "white space" that does not exist in storyboard mode. see preview to clear this one up.
3. Preview & Evaluating how to do them right
-First mistake - this is not a simple copy and paste of the text. That's BORING.
-Even if you change the slide style every time, it won't be great. It'll just be oddly hooking
-Rewatched X video - they are using WAAAY less words.
-Basically...
-Only a couple of highlighted words (selling points)
-Diagrams and very basic images illustrating their idea (explaining with both pictures and words)
-Thought out "PRESENTATION" of material.
-Power-point style of .... wait... did you say... power... point..................
-Little "Jaimie loses his shit" freakout occurs.
-Bro, the text effects aren't exactly "standard power point" and it's not like you wouldn't have to make your own pictures anyway. That'd STILL be the hard part, dummy. Calm down.
4. Re-framing: Think of it as a presentation, or a "show" - look at it again using the above (first three points, not the powerpoint shenanigans.)
Put into practice... it takes FOREVER... but GRABS ATTENTION like no other. AIDA FOR REAL.

Effective Immediately: Frame Integrity & "Showing up on time"
Showed up for morning ritual?
Only gets a "Y" if you are following schedule within 15 minutes (ex. Sunday: wakeup is 7:30 - only pass if on schedule by 7:45. 7:47 is NO GOOD!)
Showed up for workout?
Only gets a "Y" if walking through gym entrance doors BEFORE 3:38pm.
Showed up for all meditations?
Only gets a "Y" if final meditation is started BEFORE 6:08pm.
Showed up for CDH?
Only gets a "Y" if either blog post or meditation is started BEFORE:
-SUNDAY: 9:08am and didn't stop before 2pm.
-M-TH: 5:08pm OR 6:08pm (rule is 5pm unless a switch to 6pm is determined in advance.)
As far as CDH integrity, as long as you work an hour, you get a Y - 100%, no half-credits. It's pass or fail. Doesn't matter if you do it midnight to 1 in the morning -- the only consquence of this is that FRAME INTEGRITY takes a hit.
This way, I am switching to a more sensible system. Instead of doing the confusing "I worked 12 hours, but only get 50% 'integrity' because I showed up 8 minutes late", I am doing the "I worked 12 hours and obviously got the "PASS" on the integrity for 'doing what I said I would do', however I didn't keep to my schedule so a got a "FAIL" on integrity for 'showing up when I said I would'.
Switching from a single, convoluted system, to a checks and balances SET of systems that work together in a way that makes perfect sense and doesn't cause issues.

Q1 CDC Day 4
5p - 6:30p
05:15 - 06:30: Obj 1.2
Make slides.
Step 1 -- figure out where I left off.
If I recall, I was testing how it edited in and it worked great. So the next step was actually making them.
Last time, I copy and pasted from the script into GIMP. So now:
1. Figure out how to make slides FAST (formulated) online.
2. Make them good.
I remember I was choosing music too. That should be in a post on this blog.
And begin.
Music:
http://entrepreneurisback.blogspot.com/2016/12/q4-2016-ptc-day-66.html
So, good news and bad news.
Good news is this can be done and you can use ALL the styles since you're exporting them to your own editor.
Bad news is each video (even the customizable ones) only have ONE style you can use. So if you want some text to type out, some text to fade in, and some text to slide in... you'd have to have 3 different animoto videos for this.
That being said, it's simple --
Make 3 videos (or however many you need), like: "Video 1: Typing Text", Video 1: Fading Text", and "Video 1: Sliding Text".
Then storyboard your slides on the google doc marking each one into one of these categories.
Then copy paste the slides on a separate google doc into 3 groups (this will de-sequence them).
Then copy paste them into the 3 videos on animoto.
Make sure they all have the right timers and keep a consistent background color, theme, etc for easy editing.
Download the videos.
Cut and paste to move them around on MAGIX.
You can also have a separate animoto video for the opening title, transition titles, etc.
And you can have a separate animoto that is music only to export the music (and just cut the slides) into MAGIX.
And there you have it.
Should be able to complete in 2 hours so budgeting another hour to this. Downloading could take a while, hope that isnt the case. Better budget 2.5 more, using 15 min here too.

"Don't believe 20 minutes will change the way you see insomnia? Have a look at some of the letters I've recieved... or why not look at some of the dozens of sleep books I've read from Insomnia MDs... or just have a look at the brain scan research done in sleep laps that perfectly matches what your about to learn?"
The Irresistible Offer Sales Process: What Your Customer Sees, in Chronological Order
First Look: Your Touchstone
This piques his interest. Two or three of his big questions are answered in a way that intrigues and excites him, so he’s willing to dig further to see what you have.
Second Look: Believability
He discovers enough about you and/or your products and services to know that you can be trusted. This empowers him to dig deeper.
Third Look: High ROI Offer
If your customer gets to this point and finds that your touchstone has truly captured the spirit of what you’re actually offering, you’ve got a sale. Better still: If he discovers it’s better than what he expected consider your sale a true slam-dunk.

http://cdn2.hubspot.net/hub/60274/file-14902508-pdf/content-pdf/The_Irresistible_Offer.pdf?t=14089391209394 Questions
- What are you trying to sell me? (logic)
- How much? (logic)
- Why should I believe you? (logic)
- What's in it for me? (emotion)
Just answer the logic, and you have no substance -- people buy products to achieve benefits.
Just answer the emotion, and you'll come across salesy.
--
Let’s start with a definition.
The Irresistible Offer is an identity-building offer central to a product, service, or company where the believable return on investment is communicated so clearly and efficiently that it’s immediately apparent you’d have to be a fool to pass it up.
1. A High ROI Offer
2. A Touchstone
3. Believability
1. This for that.
"Your email for a 20 minute breakdown of how insomnia actually works."
2. Touchstone: Answer the 4 questions above, but using all of the elements below:
- Clarity - leave nothing to the imagination,
- Simplicity - simple statement that is easily understandable
- Brevity - REALLY SHORT. Single glance of the eye should do it. 3 second rule.
- Immediacy - Cuts to the chase, only shows the facts, no selling.
The offer is separate from your Core High ROI Offer. 2 different entities. Hence, the whole theory of opt-in -- my highest ROI is Mastery.
3. Believability: It's good to be bold, but the bolder you are, the harder it is to be believable. Ways to boost credibility:
- Proof -- social, technical data, factual (research).
- Credibility - endorsements from authority figures, high profile customers, associations and organizations that certify your work, awards and recognition, logical answers to how you're able to make your offer.
Conclusion
That’s the purpose of an effective Touchstone. Immediately, you present a short, interesting, credible offer to your prospect that transcends all of the other noise in the environment.
The customer’s Unspoken Inner Dialogue kicks in. It says, “Hey, that’s not the normal manipulative advertising claptrap. These guys might actually understand what I want.”
You then add in the factors that bolster your Believably.
The Unspoken Inner Dialogue is heard from again. It says, “Okay, this is a great offer, and these guys seem credible. But sometimes nothing is as it seems. What’s the real deal? What’s the catch here?”
And this is when you’re at the make-or-break point: when the Touchstone meets the Offer, and your customer decides whether the reality is equal to the promise.
And,sometimes, there is a catch. If your Touchstone is a loss leader, sometimes you may require a bit more from your customer in exchange for the killer deal.
But, after digging deeper, if the prospect finds a truly High ROI Offer at the core, the sale is closed.

Choosing New Theme
Salient has failed me.
I cannot spend countless hours trying to build a custom theme ground up inside of salient, fighting salient every step of the way.
I need a theme that is going to make life very easy on me and can get me to where i need inside of the 8 hours I have to get there.
So time to choose a theme that is plug and play -- needs to be perfect -- video goes right there, opt in goes right here, NO CUSTOM WORK NEEDED.
Here's some that would work:
So... now the question is, code. Do I want a theme that is drenched with code and confusing to google? X theme looks great but it also looks like it'll have a million lines of code.
"
Ultimately, the most SEO-friendly WordPress theme is a custom theme. Not only can you control the code, design and focus of your website, your website won’t have spammy looking links by default.
Also, you can take steps to improve the SEO of your website. For example, when writing the HTML, you can label your content with schema.org microdata. This microdata is invisible to humans but helps search engine machines determine whether they’re looking at a movie review, a recipe, an event and much more.
The best place to start with a custom theme is with a starter (a.k.a. barebone, blank or naked) theme. The start theme that I recommend is Roots, which incorporates Bootstrap, Boilerplate and Grunt. Bootstrap gives you a mobile ready framework; Boilerplate provides modern HTML5 code; and Grunt minifies and concatenates the CSS and JavaScript for faster loading times.
In my experience, custom themes almost always outperform off-the-shelf themes when it comes to search engine visibility and organic traffic. And while it’s true that creating your own theme can take significantly more time than using an off-the-shelf theme, the long-term SEO benefits often make it well worth it.
"
https://2014.nashville.wordcamp.org/off-the-shelf-wordpress-themes-and-seo/
...So that brought me to the idea of free themes / go basic.
But nothing's free -- which means these are the EXACT themes designed to point back to their authors, and since they're free, they'll be used by spammers.
So that means, either buy one, or write one yourself.
So I looked back at X and searched for SEO talk... and got exactly what I needed:
https://theme.co/x/features/seo/
" but structurally to search engines. X has been built from the ground up using the latest, semantic HTML5 markup, allowing search engines to easily distinguish where your main content starts and ends and easily distinguish what it is about. Semantic markup also means clean markup. X has been architected to avoid extra structural code and presentational items in your main content, which can cause problems as your site is being indexed."
That bit of info... combined with an obviously bigger, more dedicated, more professional team than salient... has sold me on the X team. It also helps that they got the top internet marketers to build in features and guides to use with their theme. I am very impressed.
X it is!
5 hours to hire an animator?
Why not just spend those 5 hours finding an incredibly simple animation tool that can do this (and there's probably FREE tools that do this)... scroll down on this page and see the video:
http://preview.themeforest.net/item/x-the-theme/full_screen_preview/5871901
See how all they do is INCREDIBLY SIMPLE animations with text that grab your interest?
By making the video grab only tiny snibbits of text and use very basic animation, they grab your attention easily and effectively... and mainly just by keeping things moving.
If the #2 best selling wordpress theme on themeforest is using this style, it probably works. And better yet, the best internet marketers out there use this method (like Frank Kern). So why waste time and money? It's not like an animated version is going to give you the kind of return that justifies it.
You can always make a competiting video to replace it some day. This will be more than good enough to start.

2-3pm lost - Troll re-program
"Want now" vs. "What I really want"
You can keep letting your mind ("IT") drive you around and lie to you. You can let those imaginary squeezes and stretches in your chest make you feel like you need to do other things. You can give in to these feelings and react to them
You will, of course, end up unhappy, defeated, not enjoying whatever it is they tell you to do, conflicted for the rest of the day, struggling, falling behind, hating life, feeling like you're getting no where... etc.
OR...
You can simply realize that the feelings are all made up. Theres nothing going on stronger than the equivalent of you making a fist. None of it's real and it'll be gone within seconds, at most a few minutes, of your thinking about it.
You can then push forth, embrace the pain and discipline, and grow fast back into a person who can work through great difficulties to achieve great things.
Because it's when you're tested that you have the REAL opportunities to achieve happiness.
When it's easy, you're not actually growing. The tough spots are the real opportunities.
And of course, you will create happiness, deep pride and satisfaction with yourself, victorious, enjoying your work a lot more, getting ahead, and loving life.
YOU CAN DO IT EITHER WAY AND SINCE ALL YOU'RE REALLY DOING IS SITTING IN A CHAIR AND THINKING IT'S REALLY NOT ANY HARDER ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.
Are you going to choose the good way or the bad way? Do you like creating good feelings or bad feelings?
Get serious, get focused, and make it happen. You cannot let IT eat you alive. You must fight, and NOW is the time to do so.

Q3 PTC Day 30
6p - 7:30p
Dad's idea review then onto editing part 2.
There is a paradox about all this that is really difficult to overcome. That is they already have read many claims that say " I have the one and only final solution that they are looking for." Reminding them of the fact only makes it more unlikely that they will be willing to try your cure.
Other wise good quality personable and genuine.
Thinking I need to say early on "This isn't some balony 1 size fits all solution like other things you've probably seen before, but it is an idea you need to know about if you're serious about fixing your insomnia." or something like that.
Need to handle that rebuttal right away. At the same time, I have to thing AIDA (Attention -> Interest -> Decision/Desire -> Action) -- I have to catch their attention
So it would start:
"Hi, my name is James Cahoon and I run the website HowToCureInsomnia.com, and unlike other things you've seen this website isn't about some phony magic solution that'll fix everything for you. That being said, if you're serious about fixing your insomnia, you need to know some fundamental causes of it, and I would like share a new breakthrough idea with you that you’ve never heard about before."
----
For now, I need to sleep on it.
I definitely want to handle this right away, but you can't argue with hard #'s. The #'s, the "people" if you will, have spoken. Here is the path PROVEN successful through years of data:
“At Last! You Can Fall Asleep When Needed — Even If You’ve Already Tried The Doctor, Pills, & Other Useless Remedies!”
I’ll show you step-by-step how to stop your insomnia - no matter how hard you’ve tried before.
So, my 2% sales conversion ratio comes from telling people exactly that -- "I have the one solution" -- and dad wouldn't buy it, but hey, dad is a lot smarter, a lot more cautious, and also isn't suffering from dehabilitating insomnia to the point where he's practically forced to listen to crazies like me express their amazing "secret" solutions.
I've got to test with this first... and keep in mind:
1. This is why, within a couple of minutes, I actually SHARE what the solution is all about -- that's where I go from "showoff liar" to "this might be for real"
2. I address it in the long version of the video.
-DON'T scrap the "secret magic" formula that's proven successful. This stuff WORKS, and it's PROVEN. What I need is TRAFFIC, not a new entirely different marketing strategy.
REFINED:
"Hi, my name is James Cahoon and I run the website HowToCureInsomnia.com, and unlike other things you've seen this isn't some phony magic solution that'll fix everything for you. That being said, isn't it time you got some information that gets down to the fundamentals about how insomnia ACTUALLY works?"
The rest of the video is good... but this first line... well... it is PARAMOUNT... and an easy fix at this point. So I've shared the above with dad and I will give this 24 hours for some feedback. In the mean time, I have a lot of work to do.

All "Intro Video" Editing Notes
How to Edit -- Notes --
Note 1:
IMPORTANT -- WHILE DOING THIS, DO NOT MOVE ANY SEGMENTS. ONLY CUT AND DELETE EMPTY SPOTS OR BAD SEGMENTS YOU KNOW YOU WON'T USE. THE CLIPS MUST REMAIN LINED UP UNTIL ALL NOTES ARE FINISHED AND THE EDITING PLAN HAS BEEN INITIATED.
Note 2:
Recordings are often going to have some sentences that are said more than once -- so there's double, triple, etc takes in the same recording. In those cases, IT WILL BE SIMPLEST TO ONLY NOTE THE BEST TAKE. Otherwise it can get very confusing in the table.
Also, the reason for most of these multi-takes is that I felt like the inital one felt shitty to begin with. So usually note worth noting anyways.
If you want to keep it, multiple versions of the same thing will have a "**" note.
..
TRACK 1 (a041) - First Half
| Timestamp | Text of Segment | Evalutation |

| 1:14 - 1:19 | ...look, ur wasting time rsch ins right now... | GOOD, just maybe a little harsh |
| 1:42 - 1:58 | ...all those pills - lifetime of refreshing sleep... | fairly good |
| 2:02 - 2:21 | ...I had - what was epiphany?... | maybe a little too pitchy, not bad |
| 2:21 - 2:46 | ..ephif.. - you never known why this happens | weak |
| 2:46 - 3:07 | ... - x1000 more difficult | good |
| 3:07 - 3:30 | ... - don't want you to know | bad |
| 3:49 - 4:03 | youtube handoff | very good! |
| 5:27 - 5:37 | aweber handoff | decent |

|---|---|---|
| 0:00 - 0:22 | You're about - never heard before | Good, "professional" style |

| 2:49 - 3:09 | To cure ur ins - more difficult to get | Good |
| 3:12 - 3:21 | if you want to cure - pill co's no want | Okay |
| 3:25 - 3:38 | Youtube handoff | Good |
| 3:54 - 4:05 | aweber handoff 1 | SEE THEORY* -- Best one I'd say |
| 4:05 - 4:15 | aweber handoff 2 | Good but not great via theory |
*Theory on handoff:
-Putting myself in the place of a lead that is facinated with my content: A strong, stern, unemotional, assumptive handoff seems to be the best way to go here. Because my customers are going to be the ones thinking "I should learn more". Sounding happy with the handoff makes them think - it lets them off the hook instead of pushing them at a critical moment.

Q3 PTC Day 25
6p - 7p
Gotta start w/ a meditation.
Should have done it earlier, but it's better to cut into work with it than not do it at all. Mental Mastery must continue to progress.
From last time:
"
First edits away!
I have everything organized and cut according to the time stamps I wrote down.
Now I just have to listen to them all.
Just think baby steps.
Listen to 1 at a time and keep notes on your thoughts, so you know which parts are good and which parts need a replacement for each recording.
Then simply look at your notes and pair up the holes in one recording with the "good" comments from the other recordings.
"

Wrap Up
Today was about creating an elegant system for organized efficient and effective editing.
VERY happy with this system, I can use this from now on!!
So in the future, when making videos:
1. Record several takes in 1 session so audio is consistent in edits.
2. Upload all to separate tracks and sinc up the tracks
3. Using a table of notes and with cuts on the editor, figure out what's good, what's bad, and what's ugly.
4. THEN begin editing by dragging the good parts together on a separate track (NEVER UNSINC ORIGINAL TRACKS!!!)
:)
Now for the morning ritual review and calling Sarah.

Q3 PTC Day 17
4:45p - 7:00p
First up, review of sound checks
Sound Check Review:
Close, NO Additional dampener
The 6"-10" distance range, speaking lower and into the mic, sounds exceptionally good.
Close w/ Background dampener
May sound SLIGHTLY better than the one without the additional dampener, but hard to tell, more apparently if you get loud.
Far, NO Additional dampener
The 2' - 3' distance range, speaking louder, sounds like shit
Far, w/ Background dampener
Notably better than without the dampener, but still sounds like shit.
I was surprised how much better being close is. Even if you can't express as much, the little variations in tone convey MORE WEIGHT than the larger variations when expressing more fully from a distance. It's almost like it's more personal, more real, more powerful. And the kicker is, it takes less effort. It's like the try too hard syndrome struck again - just go up close and take it easy :).
Since there was virtually no difference with the background dampening, the good news here is I don't need to do that!
I still need to test laptop sound vs. computer sound to see how much a difference the computer makes. Just start tmw by testing right off the computer and line that up with the laptop recordings from Monday.
...
Next, I tested the Blue Yeti, curosty of Dave.
Various differences, playing with gain, pc vs. laptop, etc... all the same... it sounded pretty bad!
The lows just aren't there at all with the yeti. The result is that while it may sound slightly crisper, it carries no weight. Since the quality of my voice is in the lows, the yeti couldn't capture that quality and I sounded very flat.
...
Other tips with recording:
-As far as getting the sound just right with the mini sound studio, you'll need to pick the right distance between 6"-12" from the microphone (it seems 8-10" is the sweet spot) and test it vs. how loud you are. Both factors affect each other. It should be loud enough to feel like it's ideally expressive, but quiet enough so it's not even close to bouncing off the walls, which is the biggest killer of quality when you don't have a sound room.
-ALWAYS NOTE WHAT VOLUME LEVEL THE MICROPHONE IS SET TO WHEN TESTING!! It makes a huge difference, it's the same as "gain" dial on the mic, too much and it's all plosions.
--->WINNER = 85% volume on AT2020 (laptop)
