Quarters are for discipline, not ROARS objectives.  I'm not interested in standing for discipline.  I'm interested in standing for success.

Restoring Integrity


LEAF - calls off - commit to restoring integrity every time

  • impact seemed to me that work was worse than ever and I was a train wreck in there
  • actions - 
    • Created 6am blitz tmw.  will make 10 calls between 1-2 and finish at 45
    • Career long commitment made to the possibility of unrelenting responsibility to honoring my word.
"Show up to Workout on time"
  • impact is my schedule varies this week and there will be less integrity with my daily discipline frame structure.
  • actions - Frame Integ - honored my word, I will put "N" and know that it is a planned N.  IWO has a different schedule set so that will maintain integrity per Rich's structure.
Gloves
  • Impact is physically obvious.  Also, it means no winter beard :(
  • When I don't have my gloves on, I will take a few seconds to have a look at what happened to determine what I will need to do differently next time to prevent it.
    • Right now wasnt wearing them - cuz i came home without them on - moving forward, I will not leave the gym without checking to see if my gloves are on, even if that means sweating into them.
Food yesterday
  • threw off whole day with the early "throwing in the towel"
  • In the future, I will restore integrity AS SOON AS POSSIBLE when it's off and not wait so I don't get to the "throwing in the towel" level :)
CDH on time
  • business isnt being developed, feels like the most important part of my life is going unfulfilled
  • I am committing to keeping on top of my integrity throughout the day, every day, and restoring whenever off.  To help with this, M-Th @ 2pm I will check on my integrity and do a 5 min restoration if necessary (made google calendar notification).  So if some things slip passed me by then that's my fail safe.
    • Note - 2pm will probably ALWAYS include "gloves" integrity restoration if I'm doing it right, until I've mastered this gloves thing.

The possibility I'm creating for today is Powerful, Fun Determination.

Determination to win.  To make Q4 the second best, if not the very best, challenge of the year.  To prove this new model post-advanced course review is superior and I can work waay more hours WITH freedom and flexibility.  That the CDC is complete and now is the time to simply move full steam ahead.

Changes to Structured Disciplines, Objectives, and Routines

  1. Post titles on this blog will, moving forward, all simply read "Today's Post".

    The reason for this change is that we're no longer setting up rigid, 90DC style quarters with pre-defined hours and dates.  Moving forward, a quarter is a quarter is a quarter.  Q4 starts October 1 and ends December 31.  That makes today day "53", technically speaking, although to log "what day it is" is now empty and meaningless under the new model.  What day is it?  It's November 22nd.  There's 39 days left in the fourth quarter.
  2. "Initial Setup" & "Sunday Lunch" are no longer considered objectives.  They do not count towards hours worked.  Accounting is still considered an objective as it is essentially business critical and I consider it to be an important discipline to keep in place as the business is built, especially since it's only 1-2 hours per month.
  3. We will continue to log the hours on the aggregate, and continue to set quarterly goals.  The goal is to get Q4 to "second best" challenge from a sheer hours perspective, even coming in from behind and no longer logging lunch or initial setup.  That will prove that the model of flexibility is superior to the model of rigid discipline.

Q4 Day 43

Landmark Advanced Forum Review


It's revealed that the reason I won't work 4 hours a night and turn my business successful over-night is simple.


My ACT likes to keep things nice and manageable.


The way it shows up is that I say the following statement to myself...


"What's important is consistency.  A big burst of hours followed by a 2 weeks break doesn't mean shit.  That was me back in 2009 before I learned discipline and I'd log a bunch of hours even though a lot of them were hardly working.  The important thing is working every day and consistently and having superior discipline, those are the principles of success that all the self-help books have in common."


So, GOOD NEWS - this statement is WRONG.  It is pure ACT.  And I can prove it.

Proof:

Success = Achieving Objectives XYZ 
Achieving Objectives = results from actions, and actions take time.

TIME + ACTION = Achieving Objectives = Success.

I mean, this is the simple truth EVERYONE knows, and it IS what I knew in 2009.  I just had no discipline, that's all.  But my ACT made a story up about that.  It made it that I WASN'T ENOUGH - I COULDN'T SUCCEED - I DIDN'T HAVE THE DISCIPLINE.

And now, I think success is based on ONLY discipline, not because discipline has anything to do with success (it actually doesn't, btw), but because my ACT decided 10 years ago that I didn't have the discipline to be successful.

Discipline is a great tool and a big piece of most success generating formulas, but success is success and discipline is discipline.  They're different things.  You can be really disciplined and produce nothing but garbage and fail endlessly.  You can also be really talented and spend 2 years making a 5 minute song that should've taken you a week and become an instant success rock star once it hits the radio.

THE ONLY THING STOPPING YOU FROM SUCCEEDING IN YOUR BUSINESS INSIDE OF THE NEXT 90 DAYS IS YOUR ACT.  YOU ARE LITERALLY ON THE EDGE OF SUCCESS AND YOUR ACT WILL NOT LET YOU MOVE FORWARD. 

In fact, that's why my product is taking so long too.  It's why I'm a perfectionist.  The product doesn't have to be perfect - I just naturally need to maximize my odds because I'm not enough and I can't succeed so I need to spend years getting it perfect.

The idea that I'd set a fixed number of hours left to complete it and stick to the schedule is much harder for me than I yet realize.  I've been brutally failing at that concept and haven't even noticed.  The ACT is running my business, my entrepreneurship, and therefore, my life.  That's why I have a hard time reading my path and purpose paper.  It's inauthentic.  Until I commit to 4 hours a night, a set # of hours on the objectives, and going ham sandwich on this thing, my the "path and purpose" sections of that path and purpose sheet may as well be written in Chinese.

It's time to create from nothing a brand new path and purpose.

It can contain the same lines as before, or not.  Doesn't matter.  What matters is I don't use the old sheet to write it - don't even try to remember what the old sheet says.  Write a brand new one, and whatever ACTAULLY MATTERS from the old one WILL be remembered.  But this one should have stuff on it that have never existed for me before.  My path, in particular, should be brand new.

You've been stuck in the world of more, better, different.  In other words, the world of reasons.  Live in the world of action and integrity instead.  Performance (Success) is action, period.

Changing The Game

Here's what's different:
  1. No more quarterly, or even divisions on the sheet - ROARS sheets (non-frame integrity ones) will now be "from today onward for the foreseeable future".  This does not include frame integrity, that lies outside of ROARS and will continue to operate monthly/quarterly as a discipline report.  I am transforming ROARS this time... just ROARS.

  2. Hours are no longer planned out for a whole quarter in advance.  Hours are planned out on a weekly or bi-weekly basis, but are not necessarily restricted to that if I have a high level of confidence in my schedule a little further out.  Obviously if I know that I won't be working on a day (say, Christmas, for example) I can stick a 0 on that day far in advance which will help me set goals as I go in anticipation of the upcoming 0.

  3. The PASS / FAIL model is NO MORE!  Integrity will now be measured as "How many hours did I get vs. how many hours were scheduled?"  Higher-than-100% is possible.  The goal is 100%.  If I fall under, actions must be scheduled to catch up.

Restore Integrity

CDH On-time: Technically, I kept my word, because my word is just to publish a post on-time to "show up".  But, then I go eat, which is not the intention - it's a short cut and a cheat and even though I'm thinking I'm keeping my word, there's not much integrity to it, its not structured well.

Imagine explaining that to someone "no I just need to clock in, doesn't matter if I actually work".  That isn't what others expect when you say "show up on time."


  • The impact is my CDH integrity is low and I'm not getting the hours I need.  
    • This makes things REALLY HARD when I do need to get to work.  I find myself drawn to my distractions and struggling to apply myself.  I'm racketing.
  • Moving forward, I am changing my word here to "Began CDH work by 5:15", the intention being I need to be working on an actual pre-defined objective from the objective and goals sheet by 5:15pm.
Meditation after lunch
  • The impact is I was less organized after lunch and again tripping over meditation schedule and feeling overwhelmed and unsatisfied trying to squeeze them all in at the end of the day.
  • I have set an alarm to go off at 12:27pm every day to remind me to meditate.
Gloves
  • Hands all f'd up
  • Wearing them as soon as I start CDH moving forward.  Keep a set designated for the car at all times too

Restore Integrity

Morning Ritual - didn't meditate

  • throws my schedule off a little and start the day less grounded, also incomplete to start the day
  • moved the sticky note and next time i will remember and take that part more seriously.  if it happens again will have to set an alarm at 645.  if i do miss it, restore integrity THEN, not now!
LEAF Schedule - no attempt
  • This represents the PRIMARY 8-9 HOURS OF MY DAY.  Going off track without restoring the day leads to stress, feeling behind, and low productivity since every time i look at deals I'm just saying "I can't" and letting my ACT run the show.  I blank stare at my monitor.  I am "getting to nothing" to absorb all the stress caused by my lack of integrity.  It's absurd and my whole life isn't working.  Of course I can't enroll people.  I have no integrity.
  • When this is out of integrity, it must be restored ASAP.  At the very least, resume schedule - YOU MUST STOP THIS IDEA THAT IT'S ALL OR NOTHING ON THE DAY.  This is what creates the "Morgan" Jaimie
    • I have implemented "morning" and "afternoon" integrity measurements for this.
      Morning: Start by 8:30am + 25 calls by 10:30am
      Afternoon: Start by 1:00pm + 10 additional calls by 2pm
    • These are minimums.  I must start restoring integrity like crazy and taking charge here.  This is the majority of my day so my whole life follows suit on this!!
    • There is no point of trying to enroll people in the chat or deal with your "other inauthentic areas" when there's a massive hole in your chest.  You need to get vicious, get intense, get serious, fight for your life.  Landmark will stop the stress but not if you lack integrity.
It's time I really went for major integrity in my life.  My business is stalled, my enrollment is lacking, my stress is high, and I "feel sad" all the time because I'm out of integrity.  I am not being a leader.  I am being a sad little justification chatty cathy and I don't like it.  That's enough shrinking.  Let's get serious, focusing, intense, and bring the kind of integrity I deserve to my life.  

I deserve 80-90% frame integrity.  I am the possibility of true commitment.

Integrity Restoration

SELP: not planning, not talking to dave, not interviewing anyone
  • Impact: I'm missing out on training - interviews are going to be major value - It's Working Out is too small - Executive Group isn't starting and has no plan.
  • I'm going to bring my notebook to Vegas and plan the following on Sat:
    -Interview replacements for Ley & Dave (one is Bryan, other should be Brendan or a "yes" responder)
    -Planning phone calls, perhaps into the ride home or after 7, to make interviews and projects happen, instead of relying on it magically happening during work hours when I'm slammed busy.
CDH: missing ROARS hours
  • ROARS is developing slower, less momentum in the business
  • I will communicate to Bryan on Friday that my intention for Saturday is to hangout for lunch a bit, but to go back to my hotel after lunch so I can get 5 hours of work in.
Morning Ritual: missed the 4:35 deadline and then skipped entire ritual
  • Didn't work out at all today and felt a loss of power, almost like a little drainage throughout the day
  • Moving forward, I will take the water deadline more seriously - I will get out of bed knowing it is critical that i get into action right away or the whole ritual goes out and there's a big impact.  Start the day with a bang or go bust.
Workout: didn't show
  • I am disappointed and not progressing in my fitness goals as fast as I'd like to.
  • Moving forward, I will plan for big events days in advance, including:
    • IDENTIFY PREPARATION TASKS WEEKS IN ADVANCE - wedding, for instance, involves ceremony prep, haircut, pick up suit.
    • PLAN PREPARATION TASKS INTO GOOGLE CALENDAR - so I can make them fit into my schedule without compromising my daily disciplines.

Integrity: The End of "Rounding to the nearest 15"

It's been bugging me for a while, the "5:07 is good, 5:08 is not" thing.  It's like, if you're going to have a rule that draws a line, why wouldn't you draw the line at the time that's intended.  If integrity is about doing things as they're meant to be done - and as others would expect - then this rounding rule has poor integrity.

Moving forward, for start times and "due by" times, the only grace will be the seconds.  01 is no good anywhere anymore.  That being said, if you work 5:35 - 6:35, you get the hour, and yes - you can have up to 10 minutes for break in any given hour.  It's the whole "maxing out the late period grace" thing that I am no longer okay with.

One change to go along with the new rule is CDH "on time" criteria for week days.  The time to arrive by is now 5:15pm.  The goal is still 5pm, but as long as you clock in by 5:15pm, you're on time.  Clock in time will now reflect actual times and will not be rounded.

Choice & Trevor

True nothingness and freedom comes from choosing life the way it is.

All you can do is choose things as they are.  What's so is what's so.

Things are the way they are right now and cannot be any other way.  Living in reality starts with choosing the things in life, free of considerations about them.  No matter how extreme, how absurd, how whatever-it-is... those are considerations.  You can live free of them with choice.

You are in SELP.  Choose SELP.  If it impacts your business, choose that.  If it makes integrity small, choose your small integrity.  Breakdowns are good if they lead to breakthroughs, but they don't lead to breakthroughs until you choose your breakdowns.

If you choose something and have a reaction - choose your reaction.  Choose your anxieties, problems, and so on.  Choose people the way they are.

Here's what I choose...

I choose SELP.

I choose sub-50% integrity.

Now that I've chosen, these things don't have to make me unhappy any more.  They are simply what's so, and now that I am at nothing, from here I can do whatever I want.

I declare I will obtain 60%+ integrity across the board (Frame & CDH) in the remaining weeks of my third quarter when averaging the last week of August and the time in September that I am not in Peru.

I declare I will have all product content written in my "all content" google doc by September 30th.

On Trevor - he's so enrolling because he gets something that Tony Robbins gets, but you don't.  It's that enrollment isn't just about the right words and the right ideas - it's about how loud you say them, how deeply you believe in them, and how powerfully you convey them.  When Trevor SCREAMS "THIS IS YOUR LIFE", you get to nothing right away.  That's what it takes to impact a human being.

True Commitment 

Let's get 'er back.

1 hour of initial setup to regain true commitment begins now.

Distinguish true commitment...

True commitment is 100% dedication to following through on something no matter what it takes.

This means...

  1. Choosing to follow through.  When you don't want to, or get stopped, you revert to your choice and discard the considerations and step over the obstacles.
  2. Keeping in integrity.  AKA - when you don't do #1, you figure out what happened and what you can do it different next time.  So if something is really hard, you don't surrender to it, you instead just figure it out.  Any time you mess it up, you honor your word to restore integrity and clean up the mess.
  3. Doing whatever it takes to complete on follow through.  You step up your game when you fail.  You don't just fail, you learn from it, you try different things every time, you plan ahead and figure out what it's going to take and who you need to be, and if you're not about it, you change your word and play a game that you will be about.

How to do it:
1 is easy enough - every time you get off track, you snap back as soon as you see that you're off track.  You give yourself a speech on the distinction of choice if you need to.  You spend 30 minutes getting to nothing if you need to.  You don't let the machine run your life.

2 is below, see integrity.

3 is planning and getting very in touch with your discipline sheets.  It's like everyone wins - if you take your eye off the game, anything can happen.  You have to be all over it if you wanna win.  If there's a consistent problem, you take the time tonight to plan out a more effective game plan.  You figure out how to make it happen.

True Integrity 

Condition of whole and complete... FOR A PERSON, "It is a matter of that person's word".

Keeping your word:
  1. Doing what you said you'd do, on time.
  2. Doing it the way it's meant to be done.
  3. Doing it as other's expect you to do it.  (so communicating is important with interpersonal integrity, otherwise you will have issues keeping your word by virtue of their interpretations)
Honoring your word:

As soon as you know you won't be keeping your word, you:
  1. Acknowledge that you will not be keeping your word.
  2. Say (or write) that you'll be keeping it in the future (and when) OR that you won't be keeping it at all.
  3. Say (or write) what you will do to either -
    • Deal with the impact on others of the failure to keep your word, OR
    • Keep your word on time moving forwards.
Restoring Integrity:
  1. Acknowledge the broken agreement or promise
  2. Distinguish the impact on workability caused.
  3. Say (or write) what you will put in place to ensure that you do not break the agreement or promise again in the future.
You will break your word if you're playing a big game.  But as soon as you've restored integrity, you're living into a new future, both by having a new gameplan and also by not dragging the past into the future since you are operating from a place of integrity.  

Integrity will go out all the time, and so you will need to restore it a lot, but every time you do you build powerful habits and free yourself from the past.  You get a fresh start every time.

Doing Whatever It Takes

First, get familar with all these:
Kept to morning ritual discipline?
Showed up on time for workout?
Did 3 meditation sessions (2 Sun?)
Showed up on time for CDH? (830 Sun?)
Followed LEAF Schedule?
Kept to food discipline?

1 - Creating the Challenge: Q3 2018 - Launch

Initially, there was a thought that with the objective goals being reached in the "consistent discipline challenge", I would move on to a new challenge.  The thought for this challenge was that it would be the "Joy, Freedom, and Power" challenge.

But how does one measure success in the area of joy, freedom, and power?  How do you quantify it in any respectable sense?  I suspect that any attempt to do so would be silly, comparable to measuring my daily "size".  And doing that is more of the same.

Beyond being difficult to create a goal for this, it's also not just about ROARS, if anything, this is more about LEAF.

The reason my ROARS hours doubled, and suddenly my CDC goals went from plateau-ing @ half to instantly over-performing, is because of Landmark's TRANSFORMATION.  So the goal as far as I am concerned is to continue and grow my own transformation.

Being the source of my own continuing transformation is about OTHERS.  So the Q3 Challenge cannot be about me anymore.  The possibility of enjoying every moment is my goal, but it's power and the freedom comes from standing for others.

So the ROARS goal shall be about standing for Insomniacs.

I've told Kevin & others who have dealt with insomnia that I will have the content done by the end of Q3 2018.  So the challenge, then, will be to have a fully operational website and corresponding product ready to go by the end of the quarter.  

Call it "Quarter 3, 2018: Launch"

2 - 90DC Sheet

Renamed "2018 Q3 Hours Integrity"

GOAL: 120 hours @ 80% Integrity (10 hr / wk AVERAGE)

Implications of this: That means 150 hours @ 100% Integrity - so weeks at 100% should be 12.5 hours on average or I'll be falling behind.

Since Sunday has over half the weight of the week, it should be at least 7 hours on Sunday to prevent falling behind.

Math on 12 weeks works out beautiful, though.  Literally 30 hours per 20% integrity, or 2.5 average per 20%.  This way, I am working towards a realistic, yet challenging goal of over 80% integrity and hour goals in the double digits.  Excellent, inspiring place to start.  If that's being hit I can stretch from there.

I can't

I was in first grade.

I was in the top 3 of the class, in my mind.  One of the best.  I rival the #2 guy, my close friend Brett.  He's clearly #2, and I'm his friend and I keep pace.   I'm no Michelle, but she's on a whole 'nother level.  Brett's pretty close in ability and a hell of a lot more charming.  I'd rather be like him.  Maybe even rise to rank of #2... always gotta try to beat your friends, right?

What really affirmed this was the other kids I was better than.  Especially Theresa.  The really dumb kid that Brett always made fun of.  As long as I wasn't like her, I'd be fine, even if I never got to better than Brett.  But seeing how far I was from her affirmed the reality that I was one of the best.  I mean Brett would tear into her and he'd look so good and she'd look so bad, and all the kids laughed.  It's a good thing Brett is my friend, I wouldn't want to be like her.

One day, we were moving desks and I wouldn't be by Brett any more.  I'd miss him, but that's what they do... they switch it up.  The kids start opening their desk and taking out their books.

Theresa opened her desk, and immediately Brett or another kid sees the utter mess and starts making fun of her.  It was like, WTF, this is a complete mess.  Hilarity ensues.  One of the strongest examples of my triumph over the slow kid yet.

I'm not too sure what happened next.  Was the teacher upset that I was making fun and opened my desk?  Or did I just open it and Brett noticed?    I'm not really sure.

Whatever it was that happened, the target shifted from Theresa to myself.

My desk was a mess to rival Theresa's - I was nearly as bad - a perfect follow up to keep the joke running.  I look over at Brett's desk - it's really good.  The guy is probably the 2nd best desk in the class, just behind Michelle's, which is pristine.  Meanwhile, I probably ranked in the 2nd WORST position.  I don't know it Brett turned the attention to me, if I just imagined the failure... or maybe the teacher saw it and yelled.  I can't be certain.

What I can be certain of is that the realization "I don't belong" hit me like a ton of bricks.

It was a mind warping experience.  In one moment, my entire paradigm changed.  I thought I was competiting for rank 2 in all areas - Brett is clearly #2, and since I am friends and compete with Brett, it therefore concluded up until now that I was more or less on his level.

But in this moment, it was obvious that I had been an arrogant fool for thinking such a thing without ANY real evidence.  It was like I had been sitting in the "3rd Place" trophy spot just assuming because I was there that it was my trophy, and then just looked at the name engraved across it in big letters and realized it wasn't mine.  And worse, now it was clear to other's that I was inferior too.

If I could be that dumb, where else was I wrong?  I saw a flood of examples.  I realized that I'd been living on a pedistool that wasn't real.  I thought I was good enough to be the best, but in this moment I realized "I'm not good enough."

How foolish of me!  I actually thought I could take on Brett & be 2nd to Michelle?  "I can't do that" - I'm not even close to being that smart, I'm a fool, I'll be lucky if I can settle as a second-tier, a beta or "grade B" if you will, at best.  I shouldn't even try to compete with Brett and Michelle or I'll look like an even bigger fool.

So once we moved desks, I got humble.  I made friends with Ryan, a kid a little more on my level.  I discovered my real rank in the middle.

I became "I can't", and now I want to be an entrepeneur.  Maybe I can be an OKAY entrepreneur, as long as I don't go too crazy and try to be like a sales manager too or something.  I can't possibly handle that.  I'm not good enough.

If my life is about me, that's the limit I will always face.  And isn't that true of any leader with no team?

If I want to be really great, I'm going to need to leave myself behind along with it's corresponding "not being enough" reality structure, and instead live in the real world, standing for others, caring about them, and having their back.

If it's not about me, then I can do anything, and I can enjoy every moment.

Value Leader Videos - Feedback

A little too much variation in voice at the beginning comes across as a sort of filter or bad editing.

Near the end, you start sounding like a 20 year old.  "I think you got too into it" says Dad.  When I think back to how this was recorded, I remember the point being to throw myself into the emphasis on the words, but I think I did so in a way that loses some of the professionalism and authority.  Ideally, you are emphasizing with major impact from an authoritative position, so instead of feeling pushed to buy, they feel like it'd be stupid not to buy.

You'll hear it, it's whenever your voice goes a little higher frequency.

So the final editing pass with deal with smoothening out some of the audio with a few re-records, fixing the repeating line near the beginning, touching up a few of the transitions, and putting in music.  Approx 4-8 hours needed.

More emphasis should be on video 1 since that will be NON-EDITABLE once it's got links going to it and has been on youtube for a month or two.  Video 2 is editable, so it's more important to start selling than it is to get it perfect.  No traffic, no sales.

Well holy shit.  1.5 hours (or 2.5, including yesterday), of digging through all my old shit and trying to figure it out.

Moving forward, keep only 1 file for each script.  If you must retain prior versions, make sure they are in a folder called "OLD".  FFS!!

Now that I've identified all the old content I want to pull from, I can actually start compiling my organized "master content doc" with everything in it.

To distinguish between the "How To Cure Insomnia" Series (my new product) and the old "Cure Insomnia Series" (the predecessor, a free video series that helped sell mastery), all old stuff will go by CIS, whereas the new product will go by "How To Cure Insomnia" Series or HTCIS if abbreviated.  That way, if I see "CIS" from now on I'll know its the old stuff.

To better organize things, there will be no numbering folders and videos from hereon out.  Trying to figure out which videos were which is really hard when all videos are organized via a single numbering system based on the supposed "sales funnel" (which, can't the sales funnel change, at any time?  Isn't that kind of the point?  And when it does, won't it be even more confusing??)

Therefore I have changed the names in my current folder.

Top of funnel is "Value Leader - The Best Cure For Insomnia"
  -Contains Value Leader Videos 1 and 2 (aka the best cure for insomnia part 1 and part 2)

Mid funnel / product is "How To Cure Insomnia Series"

Plan for Writing

1. Finish intro
2. Organize old material by titling / categorizing / tagging, so you can reference anything you need when you need it.

  • Do both old series AND mastery.
  • CERTAINLY jack alot of session 4 of Mastery since that's my old book content.  Cuz, you know, your product is gonna want to cover SOME of the basics, right??  Let's make it good.  And let's do it ON SCHEDULE by stripping as much as necessary from mastery and using copy-paste to get tons of content in with very little effort.
  • You should be spending a lot of time doing this.  Maybe making a whole new google doc with it's own table of contents simply organizing ALL of my content.  And even clean it up a bit.
  • Why?  Because then I DONT NEED TO WRITE ANYTHING.  I can just swap stuff in as I go.
3. Copy paste as much as possible.

Yeeah... I got like 3 different versions of the same scripts.
  1. The google voice re-write feeding the video into the recorder. (that's the verison i was looking at last time... it sucks)
  2. The Google Doc versions (inferior it seems?  ACTUALLY - I think this looks shitty cuz its a copy paste of #3 onto google... CONFIRM THIS!!)

Writing Extended 10 Hours

The writing is a lot of fun.  Love this part of what I do.

But also, YOU LIKE TO SPEND A LOT OF TIME DEVELOPING YOUR IDEAS.  This can easily lead to extending "another 10... and another... and another".

So just write fast.  Because the editing will be pretty simple, so will revising the product in the future.  Make sure the mentally is "just get a shitty product out there so I can start selling it, and once I start making a little money I'll clean it up."

Otherwise, I'll never start selling it at all.

Accounting today was rough

It's disturbing that my spending GOAL is in line with earning 100K / year.  I know that I can easily make a lot less than that.  So it's really important I get this business off the ground soon, AND take a LEAF detour if things get much worse (if I am less than 10K at the end of June, it's worse.)

True Commitment

Here are the areas in which true commitment is out:

-Following work schedule @ LEAF
-Morning Ritual
-CDH / Sunday structure
-Meditation
-Workout

(Basically, everything except food and bedtime)

This is creating disorder, feelings of being a fraud, disappointment, resignation, etc.

I'm missing the sense of true determination, real commitment -- and again, I want to create the possibility of true commitment for myself again.

Here's the actions...

LEAF SCHEDULE:
-7:30 vs. 7:45 issue - I choose to begin calls by 7:30.  No more talk of 7:45 as of this post.
-Be willing to sacrifice deals if necessary to begin making calls @ 7:30.  Why?  Because true commitment means NOTHING stands in your way, no amount of money, fear of loss, etc.  Obviously, you're not going to be insanely irrational, but the flip side of that is you must be completely unreasonable regardless of the cost.  Same goes for 1pm, of course.
Are you willing to sacrifice for true commitment to your schedule?  YES.  

MORNING RITUAL:
-Regardless of being behind schedule, of feeling embarrassed to show up for only 5 minutes, etc etc... you will go into the gym, in your ****** jeans, say whats up to people, lift a few weights for 5 min, and hit the shower.  Why?  Because true commitment is working out, IN THE LEAF GYM, for 5 minutes, NO MATTER WHAT.  Are you willing to show up to that, no matter what circumstance you  find yourself in?  Sick?  Doesn't matter.  Made poor choices?  Doesn't matter.  Are you willing to have true commitment here?  YES.

CDH:
-Saturday: No weed, cuz it'll weaken your resolve for Sunday.  
-Sunday: No rust prior to work, no watching rust videos with breakfast, DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT RUST until you've got your first hour of work in... 
-Sunday: You must follow the RotE discipline page and go according to schedule.
-Daily: You will get 1 hour in NO MATTER WHAT.  
-80% is not okay.  It means true commitment is gone.  You will get the hour in no matter what, because that's what true commitment means.  Are you willing to do whatever it takes to get your hour?  Sacrifice whatever is needed?  YES.

MEDITATION:
-15 minutes prior to work.  NOT 10.  Starts at 6:30, EVEN IF THAT MEANS NO COFFEE.
-Coming up from the gym, check the time to make sure you're running on schedule.  6:30 start is essential.
-If you're thinking of helpful ideas, be willing to set those aside because your true commitment means you'll be willing to sacrifice important ideas to make mindfulness happen EVERY TIME.
-5 minutes after lunch.  No matter what.  You need a solid 15-20 min under your belt before you go home.

I have created an outline - now I need to REVIEW all the old content, and think through what I want to create, and get a full picture.  Really set up a beautiful sketch and scaffold, you know?

That's the only way I'll be able to press myself to "good enough" deadlines

  • 45m per video, can record in double that

  • Should be able to beat 5 hours, but definitely shouldn't take longer since I will mostly just be trusting the audio and simply cutting out gaps and repeats.
3.1e PowerPoint Slides: 10 hours
  • Cutting the text and breaking up into 50-100 slides per video shouldn't take long at all.  I can do that super sloppy.  However, getting the pictures in, touching up diagrams, and making it look the way I want will slow it down.  This is where "good enough" is going to really need to get implemented.
3.1f Reviewing / Final Tweaks: 4 hours.

    • SU - Must be completed by 8:00am


There is NO ROUNDING: 5:06 & 7:11 are no good.  You are either starting your day with a bang or you are not.

You MUST meet all requirements - including 5 min workout minimum (M-TH) & 5 min meditation (Everyday).

No more circle plus on Saturdays for the remainder of Q2 please.

Choose Your Resistance and EMPOWER Your Meditation

By CHOOSING your resistance (or your "DO NOT WANT"), you go from having it guide you to being at the source of it.

You start by accepting and embracing your very diswanting itself.  Your resistance, your magnetic repulsion, your avoidance.  Get in touch with how much you don't want to meditate.  And choose that.

The repulsion is the way the repulsion is because the repulsion is the way the repulsion is.

AND

I choose the repulsion because I choose the repulsion.

Human beings never accept things for what they are.  We're constantly "deciding" - meaning, the considerations are what's ACTUALLY choosing - and thereby cutting off all other ways of being.

By accepting my repulsion, I can enjoy it and eliminate it as an issue, which then frees me up to meditate without a barrier being in my way.  It therefore empowers my meditation, simply by dis-empowering the racketing.

Meditated tonight with some of my last mintues before bedtime and feel quite good about it.

FRAME INTEGRITY & LANDMARK / AMANDA / ETC


"April 8 - 12 demonstrates that your relationships / sex COME AT THE COST of
frame integrity.  Even though Amanda was in town, you could have chosen
either frame > amanda, BOTH, or amanda > frame.  You said amanda over
frame.  Which is totally fine, and I am happy with that 33%.  This demonstrates
TRUE integrity of the frame."

To this end, I've had to wipe out the Landmark Thursday night NA's... BUT... that doesn't mean landmark is at the cost of the frame.

Instead, I simply have different bedtime integrity on Landmark Thursday's - on these nights, integrity is "IN BED (WITH INTENT TO SLEEP - NO INTIMACY ETC) BY 11:45PM?" - and that's IT - either I am or I am not.

That way, I'm not able to use Landmark as an excuse to be up all night, and I am guarenteed 4.5 hours for a smooth 3 sleep cycles.

And the added benefit is it actually helps my frame integrity out since I always hit this one.

So sometimes wiping out NA's actually ends up as an instant benefit.  Damn, look at that... true integrity is good.

The 5 Second Mindfulness Game

Cultivating "The Moment" once again...

The fun thing about mindfulness that I got last time I was really into it was this ability to know whether I'd been lost in thought or generally aware of my thoughts, and for how long.

It'd be like "op!  I was just gone for 2 minutes on that thought." *then become aware of everything my mind was doing for 30 seconds* ; then be in and out for a couple mins ; then "op!  I was just gone for 10 minutes there"

That was the game, that was how I knew I was heavy into mindfulness.  That could run for several hours and once or twice it ran through pretty much the entire work day.

A new possibility here is that every time I have a "catch" - basically, any time I experience one of those uncommon moments of awareness - maybe count to 5 to experience 5 full seconds of awareness, and then catch the next thought thereafter to keep it going - then play the game of "how long can I keep it going?"  Soon thereafter, you'll get lost in thought again, and once your next moment occurs, mentally note how long you were awake last time, and then count to 5 again and continue the cycle.  

Part of this possibility is that it is forever and unjudging - Just have it be a game you always play, where there's no judging right or wrong, no goal of trying to achieve some kind of thing where you make yourself wrong when you dont do it, etc... it's just "The 5 Second Mindfulness Game"

TRUE INTEGRITY & "N/A"s

Now that I have true commitment, and Landmark's definition of true integrity, it's time to start evaluating things in terms of real integrity.

CDH: "Consistent Discipline Hour": 1 Hr minimum of ROARS work on M-Th and 5 Hr minimum on Sundays.  This applies to every day during the challenge, whether it was a planned day off or not, regardless of emergencies, illness, etc.  There are no reasons.

What about being rational?  Simple - the goal is NOT 100%.  The goal is 70%.  If you have true commitment, then I'm pretty sure your life isn't going to get in the way sooo much that 70% is hard to achieve.

What about vacations?  A whole week just wipes out my integrity??  Sure - simply split up the challenge.  EX: CDC 7.1 & CDC 7.2 during Q3.  Or plan them inbetween challenges.

What about the snowboarding season??  Well, if you're only going for 4 Sundays, set an integrity goal that reflects that, and remember to set aside extra gap room for the Mondays that you're going to be recovering from all the snowboarding.  Frankly, 40% integrity as the goal is OKAY.

INTEGRITY IS NOT ABOUT "GOOD" OR "BAD".  IT IS SIMPLY A MATTER OF SOLIDITY.  IF YOU WANT 40% SOLIDITY, THERE'S NOTHING GOOD OR BAD ABOUT THAT - 40% IS 40% BECAUSE 40% IS 40%.

From here on out, there shall be NO MORE "NA"s in my integrity sheets (Size, CDH, Frame Discipline, etc) unless it's a sheet that specifically is dedicated to my true commitment integrity itself... and even then, those days should be cut from the challenge, not "NA".

This way, when I look at the percentage of CDH achievement over 90 days, I don't have to ask "How many days of the total challenge does the percentage actually apply to, though?"  It will simply be, "Of all business days in the quarter, CDH was achieved the exact percentage it says right there."  No further questions required.  

You look at the whole object of CDH and you get an exact percentage of how solid it really is, no reasoning or baggage to sort through, no audit required, just a clean and simple look at the real integrity of the thing.

Slide Editing: TYPES OF SLIDES


ISSUE!  I accidently added a "new type" of text that didn't exist - "rising" (this already existed as "scrolling").  This was also caused by confusing "growing" with "bold".

The fix is pretty simple.  replace all rising with growing.  replace all current "growing" with bold.  Animoto also added a "clean slate" style that might come in handy if some of the bolds are too strong.. but probably better just to replace them with a growing, scrolling, or typing.

So, the trick here is EVERY SLIDE needs to START with the text matching the audio.  It's kind of like the first sentence of the paragraph being the most important sentence as it describes the paragraph.  If you don't start with these matching, it's awkward, because the slide shows text right away that isn't reflecting the audio yet.

QUICK FIX: Anywhere there is currently cross-out text to start a slide, move that text to the slide above it.

Timing Slides

Works really well as long as they can be 95% good.  If you need 100% perfection you have to do slides 1 by 1... but that takes FOREVER... so for VLP2, timing is great.

EVEN WHEN THERE'S NO CROSS OUTS!  This slows things down slightly because you have to fine tune the exact positions of the slides more, but it's really easy editing... you're literally just adjusting slide positions slightly and adding fades.

If anything, simply round DOWN when you time slides.  Black space is always okay with this editing style.

Final Editing

You'll want to make sure the starts of sentences are capitalized, etc, so you can literally get all slides created on Animoto within an hour.

I would literally do a full listen through and clean up the text as you go, that way you can see if the words on the slides are matching what I'm actually saying.

Why 30m Meditation Per Day?

Switching to a "30 min per day" commitment is much more flexible and fitting, allowing me to give it my true commitment.

But why give true commitment - an unreasonable, unforgiving level of dedication - to a seemingly silly exercise?

Meditation & Landmark go hand-in-hand.  Mindfulness, enlightened by the insights of Landmark, allow you to live in the real world and escape your own stories and meaning making mechanisms.  

Now the 2018 goal of 3min-per-hour-average of mindfulness has a purpose - it means I am constantly coming off it and generating the "nothingness" from which I can engage in whatever possibilities I want.

If the power of landmark is nothing, mindfulness is the tool that allows you to generate that power.  It puts the power of landmark in your hands over and over again every day.  From there, you can actually achieve things like your "deal-work goals", once the possibility / "how" is figured out.

It's also worth noting that in the past, I was so inconsistent with mindfulness it literally was a waste of time.  Looking at the 10 weeks of Q1, counting for NAs, I actually averaged 15.5% frame integrity on my meditations.  15%!!!  At that rate, mental mastery is a hopeless pipe dream of despair.

Now that I'm truely committed - and expect to see #'s in the 90's - I can resume the path of mental mastery.  When you work out daily, you BUILD muscle - when you meditate daily, you BUILD your mind.  

Why 30m meditation per day?  Because the most important thing I can build is my mind, and mediation is a sure fire way of doing it.

Guide to Storyboarding / Designing Slides in Long Videos


  1. Take video script, put on Google Docs (if not already there)
     
  2. Break it up into short slides - always go shorter than you need to.

    NOTE: Any pictures or other variables associated with the slides should have a different type of naming system, for example "photo a, photo b", DO NOT NUMBER to go with slide #s unless complete and final and even then not a great idea.  Better to write inside of the slide details "photo a".

    Note: skipping sentences will make editing in the slides MUCH easier since it wont be as awkward if the editing isn't PERFECT down to the millisecond.
     
  3. Title slide based on which effect, theme, etc you will use and make each title a HEADING.  Do not manually number.
     
  4. Use "Add-on" table of contents to auto number the slide titles.  This way, if you add as you go, you don't have to renumber dozens or hundreds of slides every time.
     
  5. Once complete and final, make the slides using whatever photo or video editor and name each slide with its associated number.

    NOTE: If you add content later, either make a separate file for "add on slides" and do a whole separate thing for them, or you will have to re-number all slide files.  Add on slides are assumed to fit inbetween slides, so if there's 3 slides adding between 13 and 14, you could simply note that in the file for the adds ("addon slides 1-3 fit after original slide 13")

    NOTE: With animoto, it may help to time out all the slides very precisely ahead of time and include the time to run on the slides sheet.  Then, render all the slides at once, and cut them into the video.  This should save A LOT of time vs. rendering in one by one.
     
  6. Add slides to video editor and your done - since they are named in a numbered order, the video will be nice and organized and easier to edit.

    NOTE: As you add, jot down which slides are awkward, and what you'd change to fix them, but save this in the editing notes to be fixed in a separate batch of slides.
     
  7. Once all slides are edited in, repeat steps 5-6 with the batch of edited slides, so you are making all edits in batches.  Do this more than once if needed.
     
  8. Final touches - now is the only time you should edit and render in single slides.

5th Cliff Hanger technique: Hypnosis

Easier than meditation since it's guided, and designed to slow your brain down to the point of sleep.  Then, "more on this at the end of the video, as I actually have a guided hypnosis i want to share with you."

Then, AFTER the benefits, throw in a "$20-40 value.. free" of your moms hypnosis cd, included with the cure insomnia series.  Offer her $5 royalty per sale to include it with my product.  Keep them as separate products, but they get hers when they buy mine.

This is significant.  You can add code to any google docs to make it do whatever you want.

Even MAIL MERGING, like with M$ Word -> Outlook.

Whatever you can think of, someone's probably already coded it, you'd just need to find that code and copy and paste.

This is a big insight that will serve me well down the road.
