Day 3 of the Pre-TEAM game

My ad is approved, yay!

So, I need 2 active subscribers this week... and they have to be people who's sleep I am actually improving.

Tonight, I had Chris subscribe.  Tomorrow, I'll have Kevin or Vince subscribe.  Ideally, I'll get at least 1 from Facebook marketing, and that should cover weeks 1 and 2 objectives.

To actually start helping them, I will email after Kevin or Vince subscribes and say "Hey, Chris or Kevin, ask me a question about sleep so I can make my first piece of content.  My goal this week is to provide one piece of content this week that in some way potentially improves your sleep.  What do you want to know about insomnia?"

Then, I'll make that content and post it to a blog post and put it on facebook.

Next week, I gotta hit the ground running after Vegas and get twitter, youtube, and instagram going.  Lezz go!  Game on!

Day 1 of the Pre-TEAM Game

Day 1 of the Pre-TEAM game was 10/27/19.  That's right, it already started without me!

Also, since it's an exponential function, it starts at (0,1).  Meaning, to even start playing, I need a sale.

So I am STARTING with zero integrity, and even worse, I can't even start without my first sale.  So the game starts at the end of the second day in with a requirement to quantum jump onto the board with my first sale.

On the upside, it's refreshing to be in a place of zero integrity.  There's nothing to lose.  And, if I even get 0.33% integrity, that'd be my first sale!  So even a tiny sliver of integrity in this game is a fairly massive accomplishment.

Assuming I make a sale, the next massive leap is to really start playing the game - to get a chance at winning the game (or at least getting a sizable chunk of integrity.)  That step requires profitability.

Now, if my first sale costs more than I made (most likely scenario), there's no way to go exponential - I'd run out of money pretty quick.  So, actually having a chance at winning this game is completely dependent on profitable marketing.  That's the leap I've gotta make to get in the game.

Once I'm in the game, step 2 is MAX OUT my advertising game, at least in the immediate sense.

Step 3 is drive affiliates and influencers.  Unless step 2 is wildly successful, I will need one, the other, or both to go exponential.

This is simplistic, of course... there's a lot more to it, for example:

  • Profitable advertising will likely only happen from re-targeting and email list content.  Average people buy after being exposed SEVEN times.  So I'm probably going to need to hit as many people on my list as possible a minimum of 7 times to even start seeing advertising profitability.  Therefore, it's likely to take 8-12 weeks to even get a chance at winning the game.

  • Even with the email list and stuff going, I can't just email them crappy tips - I'll just turn people off.  I have to be releasing really solid content on a regular basis.  And, that can't just be on email, it's gotta be on the website / blog to establish some pages on the website so people actually kind of trust that I'm a real thing, and it's gotta be on Facebook / Instagram / Youtube / Twitter, so people kind of think I might actually be somewhat legitimate.

  • AND, it's not enough to just be out there!  I will start with no followers, no likes, no favorites, no interaction at all.  People will be turned away from buying just because I'm clearly unpopular.  Plus, as long as I'm unpopular, affiliates will likely avoid me and influencers won't even give me the time of day.  So... there's a lot of work to do just to get this ball rolling, and any percentage is a hell of a lot better than no percentage.  This game is heavily rigged against me.  Wish me luck!

Pre-TEAM Game

TEAM will hold me accountable, but it's really about building teams.  It's not about things like marketing, web building, content development, traffic training, etc.

So, ideally, I would start TEAM when I need a team.

Right now, what I really need is to get my business going.

Imagine this: My business hits paydirt.  After testing ads for a few weeks, I get one that's profitable and start generating enough profit to be financially free just on advertising.  I start booming - reel in the affiliates with a hot new profitable ROI and cause a mini gold rush of affiliates rushing to get in while it's still fresh.  My profits 10x inside of a couple of months and I can't keep up with the emails any more.  I'm forced to hire help online and overwhelmed with a backlog that seems to be growing exponentially - keeping up isn't even on the table, I'm just trying to deal with the urgent stuff.

That probably won't happen, but it could.  That possibility is real, and it's one of the biggest reasons I got into internet entrepreneurship in the first place.

Now, if it DID happen, that would be the perfect time to get a team of people around me that can save the day.  Especially because, in that scenario, all my blind spots would be coming into play and I'd need support to work through everything and empower others to fill the holes.

So, that's the game.

TEAM starts Feb. 21, 2020.  By then, I will be making 50K+ per month.  Now, let's unfold the game.

2/16/20: After 16 weeks, 300 sales total: This puts me on track for the imaginary situation above, essentially this suggests I'll be projecting 50K monthly income levels by week 16.

Exponential Function here is 300 = 1.4283^16

EDIT: Ryu coaching - Must START WITH WHY.  Your business purpose must be to improve sleep for insomniacs, not "make sales".  This will shape EVERYTHING you do.  So the emphasis must be on improving people's sleep, and sales just a consequence, not the mission.

So new function - game is to improve the sleep for 10,000 people (measured in THIS game by ACTIVE subscribers, however ultimately needs to go beyond just subs)

On Integrity

You are a human being, and as such, you have no integrity.

You create integrity out there, in the real world, by putting a declaration out there with your word, which creates a new entity (you could substitute "possibility" in for "entity".  I am using "entity" because I am looking at creating a whole realm of possibility around my work, so that may be more than a single possibility, and it can really mean anything you can create with word.)  

Then, THAT ENTITY you've created with your word will have integrity with your word.  

You can relate to knowing yourself as your word or stand in THAT ENTITY.  And of course, standing there, you can tell if it's in integrity or not and make choices about how to proceed.

However, you are not that entity - you are a human being - and as such, you have no integrity.  The same way a cat or dog has no "integrity" - it's just a cat or a dog - you are just a human being they call Jaimie.  Jaimie doesn't have integrity, Jaimie is simply what's so, he's just the way Jaimie is.    

Similarly, Jaimie's "life" is Jaimie's "life", and that is mostly an undeclared mess of internal states - it's not the same as an entity that is created by word.  Entities that are created by word can then have integrity to that word, because they are created by it and they are either in line with the word or they aren't.

If I declare a corporation as named "Jaimie's Crab Shack LLC", then the business "Iconic Crab Shack, Inc." is not that entity.  Nor is the DBA registered to Jaimie named "Jaimie's Crab Shack".  Jaimie's Crab Shack LLC is Jaimie's Crab Shack LLC, and we're either talking about Jaimie's Crab Shack LLC or we're not.  Entities you create with word work similarly.

So you might know yourself as your word, and when your word goes out of integrity, that just means you've lost touch with that entity and need to restore it.  If desired, develop a stronger relationship there, but it's integrity has no reflection on your integrity, because you never had any integrity begin with, and you never will.  You can know yourself as your word and the possibilities you create, but that doesn't make those entities the same as you.  They have integrity, and you can stand in them, but you can never have any integrity yourself.

Kartra Custom Domain Test

Well, that didn't go so well.

Setting a CNAME for www.howtofixinsomnia.com (testing this with the "fix insomnia" web) was easy enough.  In theory, by tomorrow it'll be linked up with kartra all nice and fancy.

However, redirecting howtofixinsomnia.com to https//www.howtofixinsomnia.com was a fucking disaster with AWS.  Appearently, the way to do this is COMPLEX.  WHY!??

1. Make a static redirect site with an S3 bucket.
2. Configure Cloudfront to work with the S3 bucket.
3. .... WHY THE FUCK CAN I NOT JUST USE ROUTE 53 TO POINT THE MAIN URL @ THE WWW.  JESUS.

Kartra vs. Wordpress

I am going to switch 100% to Kartra, with only a wordpress blog nestled howtocureinsomnia.com/blog

To try to make Kartra work with all of wordpress' features, it seems like it's going to be a lot of work.  You would practically want to be a web developer or you risk creating unknown variables that could lead to issues.

Since Kartra doesn't have a global header / footer, limit the kartra pages.  The weekly content will be on wordpress.  It will not have all of kartra's features, but it'll link to Kartra pages when it comes to anything I'd want to sell or have kartra pages promoting.  It'll also use Kartra forms and Kartra videos, which will of course have Kartra features.

So someone opts in, gets an email about something new, clicks to the wordpress page (which Kartra email tags them for doing), watches the video (which Kartra tags them for doing), and then buys off the Kartra page, I have basically all the data I would ever want.  I just don't have special kartra features on the blog post itself, other than any kartra forms or videos it contains.

So the majority of content produced will be on the wordpress blog, but that will all nestle inside a Kartra framework.  The minority of the site will be Kartra pages, but those will contain all the powerful sales stuff.

Registering DBA / HB Biz License

To accept payment, I have to show a legal business name.  Unless I want that name to be "Jaimie Montague", I have to register a DBA.

There's 2 things pretty much required to accept business in my current location:
1. Register a Fictitious Name with OC (https://cr.ocgov.com/FBNOnlineNet/default.aspx)
2. Register as a "Home Based Business" with Huntington Beach (OC only requires that I have a business license with the city I live in.)  (http://www.hbbiz.com/doing-business/starting-a-business-in-huntington-beach)

Since a DBA can be converted into an LLC or switched over in the future, I see no reason to start a business entity at this time.  However, once my business sales exceed a couple grand per year, it'll be about time to get an LLC or an S-Corp (probably and LLC) so that I can copyright everything and later Trademark my stuff under the business entity.  Plus, at that point it'll be time to separate my personal and business assets to protect myself from litigation, bankruptcy, and the actions of the business.  By registering everything under the business entity, I keep the IP of the business separated from myself.  To do this, I will of course need a business entity.

Since I've uploaded my videos to Vimeo and shared them with witnesses, I'm not too worried about ever needing to prove I am the originator of the content.  I can prove that in many ways.

Website Email: Amazon SES

Setting up email on my server isn't as straightforward as it may seem.  Amazon is concerned about their servers being used for email spam and have implemented restrictions, forcing you to request a lift on these restrictions or use their SES program.  However, with SES, the first 62,000 emails are free and it sounds like a legit service.  So let's do it.

I just need an email name.

Email names come from some kind of email registry, the same way domain names come from a domain registry.

So I bought an email off of godaddy, but then found out godaddy doesn't control my domain - AMAZON does.  lol

So I am trying to link it up with amazon... shit... kind of wish I didn't pay for a whole year... well, at least I didn't buy the backup service or any other etc shit.


Trying to link all that up in Route 53, but it's tricky.  I am very unclear about the SRV records in particular, since amazon isn't really setup to accept the "protocol" and "service" fields.  I set it up via BOTH solutions offered at the below link, and now I'm just waiting 24 hours for my work to propegate so I can know for sure that it's failing verification.


More Research Indicates that Email DOES come from server??

With cpanel, for instance, you can create as many "users" as you want.

With Amazon SES, you can verify email with an S3 bucket, install the email server of your choice (like cpanel's), and get as many emails as you want.

Conversion of Capital into Time to Buy Financial Freedom

1-Create "Super Lean Mode" - a budget for dropping expenses as low as possible.

2-Using this budget, project how much it'd cost per month to finance myself as a full time entrepreneur.

4-Begin balance sheet.  Time to start building my assets and this allows me to track how many months I've built up with my extra LEAF income.

Choosing a theme

I want to go with a header video over the main title.

That way it starts smooth with all the focus on the video, and the rest of the website starts from there.  This puts the main video as the focus.

Worpress Reset

So, first thing I come to is updating PHP so I can be compatible with the newest wordpress.  I quickly come to the conclusion that this is something i must do in linux.

Website Recovery and Optimization

"Pre1: Get website back online, editing tools recovered, www working, update wordpress, and implement SSL"

I reset the server, which got website working, got all my editing tools back online, got www. working, but that's where I ran into issues... how to FTP so wordpress can install its own stuff... and then ran outta time before looking into updating.

I also did a backup of the server's HTML folder on my computer under _work\website and server\BACKUP so I could play around without ruining the site.  Sounds like the config.wp file will be 100% needed.

July Determination: Unstoppable Entrepreneur

From my Integrity Seminar:

ASSIGNMENT: 
Bring workability, freedom and possibility to one of the important areas of your life that you rated low on the scale of workability.  You acknowledge and take responsibility for any broken promises or agreements, and fully clean up the mess in the area.

In the space that opens up by restoring your integrity, create a new possibility for yourself and your life, and enroll at least 2 people important to you in your new possibility.

The area I rated low was my hours on my business, since I only average 5.5 per week.  I have an agreement to myself that I will do whatever it takes to escape the life of trading my time for money, that this is the most important goal of my life, and yet I am constantly getting stopped.  I am spending time playing games, going on trips, hanging out with my girlfriend - and while it is not a bad thing to do these things, I spend this time at the expense of what I consider to be the most important thing.

I agreed to average at least 10 hours a week, and to get 500 hours on the business this year.  I instead have averaged less than 6 hours a week and I am on track to get 250 hours on the business this year.

The impact of this is that I live with shame and resignation.  I feel like a failure and I don't find it possible to hit larger goals.  My business turns with every change in the currents of life.

What's missing is any  sense of an unstoppable will.  I could put my foot down and say "NO.  I will work instead of XYZ so I can stay on track".  When something important comes up, I could IMMEDIATELY re-schedule my entrepreneur work hours to make sure I still hit 15 hours for the week.  I could treat my business like my life depends on getting those 15 hours in.

Integrity is only as critical as what you are dealing with matters.

Would you forget to feed your kids?

My determination for July is that I will make 15 hours per week CRITICAL.  Living a life of pride and free from the corporate ladder and rich and satisfied depends on my integrity with being an unstoppable entrepreneur.

Broken Agreements Built Upon Broken Agreements

The reason I had to give up meditating is I'd dishonored so many mindfulness agreements that I couldn't trust that anything would work since I never kept true to any of the previous things.

It just got less and less and less workable until there was no possibility left.

So I got back to the heart of the issue.  My agreement to catch and replace.  That if negative thoughts ("troll thoughts") took the wheel, I'd catch them and re-program the thought by rerunning the reaction back over, this time responding positively.

In doing so, I re-discovered myself as my word.  My word is to be a positive, happy, smiley person.  To have positivity win out over negativity.  To be 90% positive.  And honoring my word starts with honoring this basic foundation.

If you consider yourself to be a failure, you're going to become more of a failure.  That's just the law of attraction at work.  If you want to be successful, you must be kind of sort of all about yourself.  You've gotta love yourself, love your life, be about it.  Then you'll attract a great life.

I've highly valued humility, but it has cost me.  I now find myself stuck for years in the ACT racket of "being a failure".  But it's a racket.  Let me explain.

When you are a failure, you are freed from the responsibility of failing.  Normally, when you fail you've gotta learn and step up.  If you're failing at swimming in the Ocean, you're going to die if you don't do something.  In life, if you accept failure without stepping up, you will die inside (but hey, at least you'll "escape" the responsibility of failing!)

I think of myself as a failure to avoid the responsibility of stepping up my game, and I do so at the cost of my vitality and my future.

Your life is really determined by your responsibilities

Your responsibilities more or less choose you.  We cannot avoid them.  Essentially, just eating is a responsibility - if you don't ever choose it, you will die.

So your life, by and large, is about what responsibilities you are committed to.  And doing things you don't want to do is just about choosing a responsibility.

For instance, if someone needs help and you're busy and don't want to help them, you may help them anyways because you feel that it is important.  That is choosing responsbility.

Your capacity to commit to responsibilities, then, is essential to your greater success.  Elon Musk commits 99%+ to Tesla AND 99%+ to SpaceX.  He has a major capacity to commit.

This is to be reviewed every morning.  Get it in OneNote and make it a habit to read this before you even get out of bed.

You're prior "monthly determinations" are for conceptual values that bear little weight.  Your drive is that you do it for yourself, for your own happiness.  So what??  WHO CARES?  You're happy enough, you're super lucky in an incredible position in life.  You've already got it more or less as good as it gets.  So why even bother if it's just about you?

INSTEAD, this month we're going to look at the real world.  Base values on WHAT IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING.  On what's so.

It's time to wake up to the world in which you ACTUALLY live.  Out there, real people are dying.  Real people are suffering.  You will always care about others.  You will make that meaning.  And what you do... and what you do not do... has an impact on what meaning they make and what their lives look like.

In the real world, you are actually one of the few who could have a huge impact.  If people like you did not step up, the world would be a pretty nasty place.  You are in a position to massively impact the happiness of dozens, hundreds, even thousands of people, and you currently impact everyone around you at LEAF, and to some extent, everyone they interact with.  This is what's actually out there.  It's not some story, or some conceptual value.  You are in a unique position to make a difference, and if you do not value you this tremendously, if you do not fully get in touch with the impact of this fact, then many people will die and suffer.  It does not have to be that way, but it's up to you to embrace the impact, to really get in touch with how serious this is.

If a surgeon is late, the patient dies.  Insomniacs are already dying.   At LEAF, people's futures and happiness are at stake.  Yet, you let yourself slack off and remain isolated from the facts of the matter.  This month, I am determined to change that and fully embrace the impact.  Lives are at stake.

The inspiring journey of the ordinary protagonist who's life takes a turn when the unexpected happens and is faced with a decision to take up action or live in defeat.  Through great challenges and adventure, our hero is trained, broken, and beaten again, and now he must grow and overcome the great losses and challenges he's been crushed by on his journey.  Pulling together what he has left, he takes towards the heart of the challenge, overcoming the climax of his adventure and emerging victorious.  Then, he returns home a new man.

Failure Abound - Time to focus on what drives me

Everywhere I look I am surrounded by twisted mazes of negativity and victimhood.  I am in a great position to sky rocket my success now, and yet I am a hopeless failure.

I think it's time to stop focusing on LEAF and "personal development" and start focusing on what really drives me, what's really motivating me, what still fires me up inside unlike anything else in my life.

And that is the thoughts related to what it would be like to be a business owner.

When I have fantasies about going viral, hiring officers, executing marketing strategies, innovating new revenue streams - even though these are ridiculous fantasies and not the actual means by which these things are achieved - they are what fire me up inside.

I think if I want to get my mindfulness back on track and become a positive force of nature I'm going to need to start fantasizing every day.  These thoughts, the ones that fire me up and get me going, are the ones that I should be focused on living in.

Think and grow rich ; the secret - these books talked about visualization.  But, the idea was boxed, and then it's real meaning was destroyed.  Visualization isn't some "mind movie" you make up and think about every morning to get driven.  It's not about that.  It's about thinking about the shit you really get fired up about so you naturally head in that direction in an unwavering fashion.

This is what you understood in 2009.  You were ALL ABOUT your vision.  You just didn't have the discipline to build the habits that create it.  Now you have the discipline, but not the vision to implement your vision.  I need the vision back.

At the very least, it's something really new and different that I haven't tried before, and I know it has a consistent effect on me that I am certainly seeking.  Definitely worth a shot.  Let's implement.

Power & Direction

Current determination levels are slightly higher than last month, though still far lower than I want.

April in general: 2.75

May's monthly determination is Power & Direction.  

It's about being determined to stay on path and building powerful habits around getting right back on path and clinging to it.  Clinging to it is by restoring integrity every time as a habit, not waiting a moment to restore it.

My path is a daily schedule that heads directly towards my ROARS business objectives and my 160K annual salary goal.

The daily schedule involves:

  • Doing a powerful morning ritual, leaving for my workout by 5:25am.
  • Beginning a workout by 6am and leaving for a second one at 3:30pm.
  • Planning out the day, and following through on that plan.
  • Beginning work on ROARS by 5:15pm.
  • Eating healthy, following my food discipline.
  • Going to bed in time to get 6 hours of sleep.

Any time one of these is off, it simply means I am not authentically following my path.  This month my determination is that I will not let that fly - I will restore integrity immediately.

The solution is to be determined to build an a behavioral pattern that I follow without thinking about it, just out of habit and out of a pursuit of ALL.

A True Entrepreneur Embraces Obstacles

"A true gladiator embraces pain and suffering."  And "caresses death", or whatever Oenomaus said.

When they go into the fight ready to die and enjoying pain, they win.

An true entrepreneur has a similar thing going on with obstacles.

Bill Gates loved computers, programming, and business challenges so much that the vast majority of every problem thrown his way occurred to him kind of like a fun game he could play.  He loved the majority of the obstacles, so he didn't break down when they occurred.  He wasn't scared of pushing the envelope, because it would just mean more fun obstacles.  From a nobody to the #1 richest man in the world, it was fun and enjoyable the whole time.  He embraced obstacles and there was no obstacle big enough to satisfy him, so he over-came the biggest obstacles he could possibly face in his pursuit of obstacles.

If I embraced obstacles in this way...

  • The lower my daily disciplines, the more excited I'd be - my obstacle is to figure out a 40% gap.  What a massive, rich, juicy set of obstacles.  I don't even know where to start - nice - this could last a while and really keep me engaged.
  • The more overwhelmed I get at work, the more fun I'd have.  I'd literally be covered in obstacles.  From the fuzzy headaches, to the gut clenches, to the explosive interrupting thoughts, to forgetting about urgent deals and dropping the ball, it'd be a fun packed day.  Everywhere I look there'd be stuff I could solve.  It'd be like living in paradise.
  • The more I struggled to get myself to do something, the more fascinating it'd be.  The more things I could try.  The more I could adventure into my mind. 
  • The more I wanted a break, or to play a game or watch a video, INSTEAD OF what I had chose to do, the more ecstasy I'd feel.  That mental ripping would feel SO SATISFYING. 
  • The more I broke my muscles, the more satisfying my workout.

So you see, it's got nothing to do with pain.  It's got everything to do with becoming obsessed with a love of obstacles.  You love obstacles because they're fun, interesting, engaging, challenging, and so on.  And you embrace them just for the love of embracing them.  The same way you do ALL because you enjoy it, and you choose ALL because you choose it.

You want to gain intensity?  Love obstacles and then view it as your #1 obstacle.  Loving obstacles, choosing them, that's what comes first.

April Monthly Determination

Current "Determination Level" on a scale of 1-5 with 1 being the lowest possible and 5 being the highest possible: 2

Become enrolled in creating as much happiness as possible.  That is, to become absorbed in creating happiness.  Becoming obsessed with happiness.


On 1-5...

Happiness: 3.5
Work: 2.5
Roars: 3
Social: 3.5
Finances: 3.5
Fitness: 4
Entertainment: 4
Romance: 4.5
Family: 4

If I just make a list of everything to do in these areas, it'll quickly become obligatory.  Then, a failure.  That'd be like taking the time to make rockets only to miss the building when you fire them.  (Frost: "YAH MISSED!")

Instead, focus on the goals and become obsessed with increasing them.

However, it seems rather pointless to take the time with things that are 4+... or even 3.5+, while there are large glaring numbers like 2.5 and 3.

So, we're back to focusing on Work and Roars.

So, April's determination is to get enrolled in creating as much happiness as possible with Work and ROARS.

The one thing that's missing is intensity.  It's a fighter's push to win.  It's that part where you're giving it all you got, like your life depends on it.

So, April's determination is to be driven to build my books of business.  

Like the greater side of me is letting them slide away and the smaller, losing side of me is fighting to build them up.  And it's going to take everything I got to win and get the "build them up" side bigger than the "let them slide away" side.


"Intense focus.  The other ingredients must get you serious enough to focus your mind.  Without a driven, intense focus, you will not be effective enough to deal with the vast amounts of obstacles life throws at you."


I've decided to focus on building my intensity this month, seems to be what's missing.  I started on the wrong foot yesterday... I've become complacent... I've become a weak man.  That's not who I am, and it's time I got back to being someone who is actively accomplishing great things.

By meditating on my thoughts more and more, I will identify, laugh at, and remove the negative thoughts controlling my daily performance, and BUILD a HABIT of focusing on performance based thoughts. 

By the end of April, I'd like to see my performance double across the board.

Poor Meditations

I think these add evidence to the whole paradigm of "burned out soldier" or whatever I'm making up and actually cause negative value.

ALL meditations should utilize concentration or just be dropped altogether.  Use "Good" + "Good Catch" and be on the ball or don't do it at all.  I'd rather lose integrity than spirit.

Building up a more successful future

To build up more success, continually build the following, week by week, month by month, year by year...

  1. Building up determination - not as a packet you read, but as a feeling you have, a sense of urgency you carry into every day.  Slowly, steadily grow this.
    .
  2. Building up the habit of ALL - a consistent growth of just showing up 100% to things, fully participating because you want to, playing the game to win, not for the victory, but for the play.  The habit of responsibly going into things treating them as ends to themselves.  Slowly, steadily grow this.

ALL goes hand in hand with "good catch" and "good" and 1-up, especially when applied to a fun focus on killing it.  It should be a positive experience, a fun concentration of will.  It can be a continuation of mediation in this sense.

It is NOT negative, stress, etc.  Those feelings result from focusing on the wrong things.  "Good" is said when focus was on the right things, but my focus tends to trend towards the wrong things.  So make sure you're playing the 1-up game in enjoyable fashion and you will have it.

Determination in March, 2019

March, 2019 is about being determined and enjoying every moment.

The goal is to create a powerful ability to focus on one thing at a time.  What this looks like is following daily schedule and creating value with every task during the day.  Inside of each task, it's about maintaining the focus on what I choose to focus on, and shooing or sorting away distractions.  When focus becomes hard to maintain, I will create value to enjoy honing my focus.

In cold calls, say I'm getting a lot of distractions at the 20 minute mark.  I'll have a look at if I'm calling to have fun, challenging, cool AF conversations, or if I'm focusing on a call count number or some discomfort "cause" that has me being a victim to it.  Then, I'll ask, what would allow me to be cause in the matter, and guide my focus back on having great conversations.

Instead of looking at what I'm up to as if it's hard and I have to push through, I will simply realize that I can do anything if I care enough, so the only problem that ever exists is that I don't care enough.  Which means all I have to do is create more value.

I will create value because I want to.

Monthly Determination Creation

Every month, a new daily bedside sheet is born, it should be the one thing that sparks the most determination.

Should be visualization based, or something that triggers a strong emotional mood.

Restoring Integrity

I said I would do follow my daily disciplines, and I have not been even so much as attempting to do so.

The affect this has had is reduced physical health and lack of the discipline necessary to enjoy my days and live the life I want to live.

Moving forward, I will create value for my daily disciplines.  When out of integrity, I will ask myself "What do I need to do to make this valuable so that I enjoy doing it?"  I will use this to restore my determination.

I have reviewed and tweaked all of my daily disciplines this morning, and from this moment onward, I choose to continue following my daily disciplines and I will do whatever is necessary to maintain 75% integrity or above.  

On SNW days, I will cut out 30 minutes on Sunday night to go through my daily disciplines and restore my determination to following through with this choice.

Get back to what you were about when you were at your prime.  Back then, call counts didn't matter.

Going in with a call goal every day is a miserable experience.  That's some early AA level stuff.  Your goal should be to get something like 5 great calls every day, and however many calls are needed to make that happen is the calls you make.  Calls are just what you do to get to the real work of great conversations.

Enjoying what you do cannot be about hitting a call number.  You'd be miserable if that was your goal.  Which is why you are miserable.

Need a "Monthly Determination Generation System"


Restoring integrity has revealed the need for a monthly system.  Currently I only have daily and weekly systems for generating determination.  This makes for a short time frame I have to do it in and when I've gone "off the rails" it doesn't work at all.  I need a good 1-2 hours per month where I really sit down and get highly determined to hit my goals, which the daily and weekly systems then use as their fuel for thought.

I essentially do this by default once or twice a year.  The problem is, it is only brought on by massive failures, and then once generated it's only a matter of time - usually 1-3 months - until it fades out again.

Instead of going with the default model, I'd like to switch to a model where I catch and replace my default behavior every month, following a system, determined by my word, not my feelings.  This system would look for going off the rails and generate major amounts of determination.

Once a month, I'd take maybe 2-4 hours to evaluate the following on scales of 1-10:
  1. When it comes to hitting my goals, how much do I HONESTLY care on a day to day basis?
  2. How clear are my goals in my mind, without looking?
  3. What is my current determination level?  (10 = Pure gladiator, 1 = Pure couch potato)

I’ve been pretending I am doing a big push & ramp up this year, that I am all about my new 2019 goals  (like I was in January) – but the truth is, I have not been pushing hard or very focused on my goals in February.

The impact pretending to be about my goals is that I feel like a loser, I feel disappointed in myself, and I feel incapable of achieving significant results.

What’s been missing is any sense of real determination and feeling alive, I’m missing that thrill of fighting to make something happen against all odds.

The possibility I am inventing for myself is determination.  I will keep my goals by my bedside and look at them when I wake up every day so I can start my days with determination to make my goals into reality.  Also, I will generate a deeper, more serious determination from 8-830 on Sundays.

Why am I never consistent over 6 months, 12 months, etc?

It’s obvious.  Very, very simple: Sometimes I care, sometimes I don’t care.

It’s really that simple.  One month I care, the next I don’t.

So all I need to get really consistent is to consistently care.  I have to want it.  Which means I need a monthly system in place wherein I generate high amounts of determination every single month.

Who Am I? Core Nature of "me" "my life" "I" etc

When you talk about your life, your talking about a sum of experiences, actions, choices, etc.  It all boils down to a collection of moments.  Your "whole life" is all of the moments you've been through.  Who you are now-a-days would be the more recent moments, as defined by some custom set of parameters.

These are all useful constructs.  Sure they're real, and true, but they only say who you are as a construct of a sum of smaller things.  You'll think of yourself one way, others will have it slightly different, probably with a lot of overlap.  The construct of "you" is essential and amazing and awesome.

However, it's not who you really are.  It's a construct.  And the problem is, you live moment-to-moment as if who you are is this construct.  That's where things get messy, because this construct is a sum of many, many moments, and it doesn't fit as a useful tool when it comes to managing your moment-to-moment life.

All that ever exists is the moment.  You are right here, right now.  No matter what you do, where you go, etc, you will always be right wherever you are, right in that moment.  The past is gone, and all you ever do is remember it in this moment, and the future isn't here yet, so all you ever do is predict it in this moment.

If all that exists is the moment, you cannot ever exist as a sum of moments.  You can only ACTUALLY exist as THIS moment.

So who are you?

You are the space in which this moment is happening.

You are like the raindrop reflecting the world.  You are the observer, the witness.  You see, touch, feel, think, experience it all, and that ever-changing experience is WHO YOU ARE.

Tested google slides, powerpoint solution - will be setting up slides in google, and then downloading as powerpoint and from there adding in the audio as background audio and recording / rendering video from there.

This way, slides will be backed up as both google slides and powerpoint presentations, and I won't use up my google drive space.

Tested audio rendering - 256 hz MP3 works great

Tested video rendering - powerpoint direct makes a nice, clean MP4 that is only slightly bigger than Magix and streams nicely with Vimeo.  So, will simply render direct from powerpoint.

Next up, stress test a full section, preferably the longest one.  See if power-point can handle.  Format the slides first so you can legitimately edit this session together, will make life easier later.  So just the formatting and everything will take an hour, not only do I have to get it all nicely styled complete with title slides, but then I have to get the transitions done nicely and copy + paste from google doc straight to google slides setup properly (probably copy paste session 1 script onto a "session 1 slides setup" doc)

Then, try doing the entire session 1 render and upload.  This will be where I find out if powerpoint will need to be chunks that are combined, or if it can handle the whole session by itself.




Snowboarding & Responsibility

During the snow season, I allow disciplines to drop off and my overall satisfaction to drop.

Skiing basically becomes an excuse for me to do whatever I feel like doing and then my quality of life drops, kind of making the snowboarding season bittersweet.

CAUSE IN THE MATTER

  • A schedule: How and when I will work.

  • Drive separately for expanded freedom.
  • Enrolling my snow crew in what I was up to.

Cold Calling as the Pre-Game for Greatness



Simple Premise: I create all my fun, satisfaction, fulfillment, power, and freedom with my cold calls.

IN FACT: Fun, satisfaction, fulfillment, power, and freedom don't happen without them.

I can create value because I want to.  But, I need something to create value WITH.  And the more the "WITH" object is outside my comfort zone, the more there is to gain.

I thereby use cold calling as a means to obtaining whatever value or possibility I am creating.

It's the OPPOSITE of the normal paradigm, in which cold calling drains my willpower and makes me sluggish on business at the end of the day.  Instead, cold calling becomes that which builds a foundation so that at 5pm I LAUNCH into my most important work.  Cold calling is the buildup, it's the pre-game.  

Without it, I go into business building work with much less power, freedom, or whatever it is I am trying to create.

Integrity Restoration + Ideas

Morning Ritual, Food integrity: Wiped out in post-snowboarding / post-trip day

  • Impact is I am not following any disciplines or any structure to my day.
  • I will plan all future trips such that my plan includes both the days of the trip AND the following day.  Any custom structure necessary will be setup in advance so I can start back up with integrity.

Idea:

Krista says she plans out her days like 10-20 min night before so she's clear going into her day what happens and doesn't think about considerations.  Interesting idea for how I'd get to 75%+ integrity.

Daily Discipline idea - bedtime

Naming a cause always results in avoiding responsibility

This concept from "Be Here Now" is the core nature of my 2010-2011 discovery that I could witness a "troll thought" and choose a "productive thought", compare the two in terms of which is more helpful, and the resulting comparison is typically quite humorous.

The core nature of it is that you are the source of all value, and the context is decisive of the value.  The second you name an external cause to any value, you've now avoided responsibility of being at the source of it.  All values, good or bad, are simply whatever you say they are or view them as, and responsibility in this manner isn't "the truth", it's simply a context you can move to whenever an upset occurs.

Core Nature of Thoughts Meditation

The key objective is to relate to your thoughts as thoughts (and feelings as feelings, and sensations as sensations, but emphasis of this meditation is obviously the thoughts.)

So not like distinguishing which thoughts are concepts, which are "manufactured", which "take lead / drive the bus", and not whether I should let that happen / fight it / control which thoughts, etc.

CORE NATURE is just relating to thoughts as thoughts because everything else is made up of thoughts and feelings.

Concepts are made up of thoughts and feelings, they aren't the root of the issue.

"Manufactured thoughts", while maybe true or a worthy debate, are a concept, so they are an even more surface level thing - an idea, made up of concepts, which then boils back down to thoughts.

Thoughts that seem to "take control" of my awareness are still thoughts that can be observed - it doesn't necessarily matter if they're driving the bus, it just matters to observe them during the meditation.  They're still just thoughts.  And any "struggle" is just a set of thoughts and feelings related to a these thoughts.  So you can simply observe those, too.

There are no concepts, ideas, or anything that doesn't break down into simply thoughts and feelings.  And since there are only thoughts, the point of the meditation is to get connected with that.  To relate to your thoughts as thoughts.  Because that's what's so.

All the concepts and ideas that the thoughts generate cloud you to the true reality of how you actually are operating in any given moment.  With meditation, you can cut back to the source of it all, and once your observing reality you gain a greater ability to choose which thoughts you follow, and from there you can choose your actions.

The One Thing - Move 1 hr of cdh to beginning of day

Going to take a pretty big overhaul but it'll be good to get 1 hr CDH, then LEAF, then 1-2 additional hours.

430 - 530 - M.R.
530 - 630 - CDH
630 - 7 commute

LUNCH - workout1

Rest of day - schedule as normal, including normal 5-7 CDH
