Guide to Storyboarding / Designing Slides in Long Videos

  1. Take video script, put on Google Docs (if not already there)

  2. Break it up into short slides - always go shorter than you need to.

NOTE: Any pictures or other variables associated with the slides should have a different type of naming system, for example "photo a, photo b", DO NOT NUMBER to go with slide #s unless complete and final and even then not a great idea.  Better to write inside of the slide details "photo a".

Note: skipping sentences will make editing in the slides MUCH easier since it wont be as awkward if the editing isn't PERFECT down to the millisecond.

  3. Title slide based on which effect, theme, etc you will use and make each title a HEADING.  Do not manually number.

  4. Use "Add-on" table of contents to auto number the slide titles.  This way, if you add as you go, you don't have to renumber dozens or hundreds of slides every time.

  5. Once complete and final, make the slides using whatever photo or video editor and name each slide with its associated number.

NOTE: If you add content later, either make a separate file for "add on slides" and do a whole separate thing for them, or you will have to re-number all slide files.  Add on slides are assumed to fit inbetween slides, so if there's 3 slides adding between 13 and 14, you could simply note that in the file for the adds ("addon slides 1-3 fit after original slide 13")

NOTE: With animoto, it may help to time out all the slides very precisely ahead of time and include the time to run on the slides sheet.  Then, render all the slides at once, and cut them into the video.  This should save A LOT of time vs. rendering in one by one.

  6. Add slides to video editor and your done - since they are named in a numbered order, the video will be nice and organized and easier to edit.

NOTE: As you add, jot down which slides are awkward, and what you'd change to fix them, but save this in the editing notes to be fixed in a separate batch of slides.

  7. Once all slides are edited in, repeat steps 5-6 with the batch of edited slides, so you are making all edits in batches.  Do this more than once if needed.

  8. Final touches - now is the only time you should edit and render in single slides.

New Tag / Label

FYI, new tag:
HTCI = How To Cure Insomnia = Insomnia area of ROARS at large.

Use this for listing ideas on this blog related to the product development or business development moving forward.

Content Ideas

Slogan (maybe for the news letter): Insomnia advice that is so good it will put you to sleep.

5th Cliff Hanger technique: Hypnosis

Easier than meditation since it's guided, and designed to slow your brain down to the point of sleep.  Then, "more on this at the end of the video, as I actually have a guided hypnosis i want to share with you."

Then, AFTER the benefits, throw in a "$20-40 value.. free" of your moms hypnosis cd, included with the cure insomnia series.  Offer her $5 royalty per sale to include it with my product.  Keep them as separate products, but they get hers when they buy mine.

Google Apps Script

https://developers.google.com/apps-script/

This is significant.  You can add code to any google docs to make it do whatever you want.

Even MAIL MERGING, like with M$ Word -> Outlook.

Whatever you can think of, someone's probably already coded it, you'd just need to find that code and copy and paste.

This is a big insight that will serve me well down the road.

CDC 5 Day 30

5p - 7p

05:15 - 06:15: Obj.2.1c (12/26)
06:30 - 07:00: Obj.2.1c (12.5/26)

Most of section 2 slides outlined... still need to be numbered and the text effects needs to be determined.

Section 1 picture content put into "raw pictures" folder for use.

Determined that I will not be re-using ANY old animoto slides, even for pictures I've already made into slides, however the unused content was loaded into the MAGIX VLP2 project for reference.

09:00 - 10:00: Obj.2.1c (8/26)
10:00 - 11:00: Obj.2.1c (9/26)
11:00 - 12:00: Obj.Su.Lunch (2/4) -10mm
12:00 - 01:00: Obj.2.1c (10/26)
01:00 - 02:00: Obj.2.1c (11/26)
02:00 - 02:30: Break -5mm
02:30 - 03:30: WTDC

Next Steps

Today we finished editing the audio and made 2 strategic edits to the script to make the video faster paced and more hooking, especially by using a cliffhanger lead in to section 2.

Next up: Finish the VLP2 Slides Google Doc - this outlines the slides and should make use of all the pictures I had from previous videos that are being replaced by VLP2.

After that, just use copy and past from the doc into Animoto.  Would batch all the text slides together and complete those FIRST, INCLUDING editing them into the video.

Then, it should be easier to fill in the gaps with the photo slides since I'll know the exact lengths I need to fill with each.

Morning Insight - The Relationship Between NLP & Mindfulness

You will not achieve your "level up mindfulness" goal without aNLP.

Why?

You have to ENJOY THE SHIT OUT OF MINDFULNESS to achieve your goals.

I mean, it's gotta be one of your FAVORITE things.

Reprogramming allows you to ENJOY mindfulness.

Moving forward, your goal should be focused on making mindfulness so enjoyable that you actually end up doing it all the time just for fun.

And the only way to achieve this goal is with some serious aNLP.  Every negative with mindfulness needs to be reprogrammed 100x over, and every positive needs to be stretched and maximized.

You get the significance of mindfulness - it allows you to enjoy anything and push your limits - but you don't ACTUALLY enjoy doing it enough to get there.  So there's the logical next step.

I would rather spend the entire mediation reprogramming and talking to myself (and being lost in doing so) then spend it beating myself up.  Because even if the meditation didn't go so well, at least I enjoyed it, which will add to the snowball effect of enjoying mindfulness so much that I'm actually doing it all the time.

OBJECTIVE: MAKE MINDFULNESS SO FUN, I FIND THAT I'M NATURALLY DOING IT ALL THE TIME WITHOUT HAVING CONSCIOUSLY CHOSEN TO DO IT.

CDC 5 Day 25

05:30 - 06:30: Obj.2.1c (7/26)

Okay... so, this was setup, but still I need to point out a concern.

There's 40 minutes of audio, and I only got through 5 minutes in the first hour.

That means audio is going to take 8 hours.

I don't HAVE 8 hours to spend on audio.  It needs to be done in 4.

So we're going to have to really pick up the pace on the next one.

Q1 Setup Complete

There's no Q1 paper to write.

I know what I want for this quarter - it's 4.5 size, 70% integrity, and 45 hours.

It's the solid start of my 2018 goals.

Trying to do some "peaks" thing would just be silly.  My objective, path, and purpose are all very clear.  Now it is time to proceed.
