Budgeting January

Note that cash is around $5k @ end of December, INCLUDING savings ($4k checking).

That means with a 2k loss in Jan. I'll be down to 2k in checking by Feb.  And without commission, I'll be broke by April, according to 2016 spending trends.

That means 2017 needs to start with some huge budgetary spending cuts.  Realistically I need to lower spending by $1000.

In business / INTEG subscriptions I can save $150.

In shopping and fast food, I can save another $200.

Restaurants, I can save $100.

Tax exemption payoff $200.

Chris cash out $100.

That still leaves me $250 short, not accounting for other spending.  Need to find it somewhere.  And that's just to save $1000... I'll still be losing, this is a minimum and includes all the excess spending not even on the balance sheet.

Strength.  It's time to be STRONG again.

It's a sad thing I wasn't more successful AUG-OCT.  I really put in the discipline to earn it.

That being said, now I am ready for the next level.  It's been a relaxed November, opposite of last year, and Dec '16 and Jan '17 are going to be opposites as well -- it's time to make that final push to size 5.

I embrace the idea of embracing pain and suffering.  I've never been so clear, so non-conflicted, so knowing what I need to do next.  2016 was a success.  Now it's time to make 2017 the launch based upon the foundation.

Like you said, once you start building size, you can start growing exponentially faster.

Fixing the Frame

Q4 2016 PTC Day 56 - Establishing Frame of Consistent Discipline

09:00 - 05:00

19 Objectives, 150 hours is a failed project for this challenge.  I will not hit 150 hours, nor will I get through 19 objectives.

However, the project concept is solid.  The only thing that failed was the consistent discipline.

In light of this, and the need to split some excess time to LEAF, there will be some changes ahead.

CDH integrity tracked will now be CDH integrity ONLY.  Any planned discipline hour achieved will yield integrity towards my general development of consistent discipline.  It is a framework that ROARS is set within, but it is not ROARS.  This is a "did you show up" meter of integrity.

ROARS integrity will be measured by hours (average & total) and objectives completed... as it should be.

December '16: Establishing Frame of Consistent Discipline

CDH was the framework for having some sort of consistent discipline extra credit hour I went for every day, to establish a foundation of discipline that I could build ROARS upon.

Now I'm dropping the "H", and setting into place a structure of discipline for Sunday - Friday.  It's the same one I've been using, now it's just official across the board, setting up a clear frame for my gladiator context of mental mastery to thrive within.

The key here is to realize that this will take ESCAPE VELOCITY since there's a HABIT GRAVITY of non-action in place set by November, and as an official structure, this is my most extensive and ambitious design yet.

The challenge of December '16 is to achieve escape velocity.  This will help me:
  • Set the foundation for establishing HABIT GRAVITY in early 2017 of consistent discipline framework.
    • Prove I can do it and set a bar to beat in early 2017.
  • Grow consistent discipline skills, mentality, and emphasis as a primary goal.
NON-NEGOTIABLES -- the following is over-riding word and it must be followed or the challenge will fall apart incredibly fast.  Doing these is what sets this period apart, it's what makes a frame exist, without it this period will be indistinguishable from the rest of Q4.

  • SHOW UP for a morning ritual every day, Sunday - Thursday (okay to fail, but at least SHOW UP.)
  • SHOW UP for workout 4 days a week every week -- if missed at lunch, reschedule for 330-4 (okay to fail, but at least SHOW UP.)
  • SHOW UP for 3 meditations a day, Sunday - Thursday (okay to fail, but at least SHOW UP.)
  • Have NO NICOTINE from 11/26/16 - 12/26/16.
  • Use Size Sheet hourly during the day, even if it’s with “??” or “NA” fillers.

NEGOTIABLE: Food.  Here's the GOALS.  Note that the first one will directly impact size for the day now:
  • NO FAST FOOD before all work is completed for the day on any given day.  
  • Max fast food of 2x per week (1x per Saturday.)
  • Crockpot dinners for the week on Sundays.
  • Daily dinner of steak or chicken + veggies, chilli + veggies, or crockpot premade.

Now on to the specifics...

Unifying Context: MENTAL MASTERY

"Why am I here?" ... the Power Hour starter... for both LEAF, ROARS, and other objectives... is MENTAL MASTERY.

The new implementation, effective immediately, is ACCOUNTABILITY for applying mindfulness size estimation to deal work and ROARS work.

These are both areas that are ready for the next step in mental mastery.  I know how to single-out thoughts now and choose.  It'll be much easier and better this way, it's worth trying for at least a month.

Sunday Structure Changes:

Default wake up alarm is now 7am.

Default start times: 8:30a goal, 9:00a hard limit (or CDH integrity automatically cut in half.)

IF SO CHOSEN THE NIGHT BEFORE, these can be changed to 7:30/9:30, but this is no longer the default.

ROARS: 4 Sundays, 30 Hours, 8 Objectives

New goal: Apply mental mastery and singling-out thoughts to each hour of ROARS work

New objectives: as mentioned in title.

Basically goal for Q4 now is to get through stage 1 objectives and put a firm dent into stage 2 (re-doing video 2.)  My "far reaching" objective would be to finish video 2 remake.

LEAF: 12 Hours, 3 Objectives

New goal: Apply mental mastery and singling-out thoughts to deal work, tracking size from 10a-11a.

Now basically starting lunch at 11am, and asking me to 1-up thoughts (single-out approach) or face lower size daily.

MINT: Budget @ the end of every month.

One CDH during the final week of every month should be dedicated to paying bills, tending mint, and making the income statement for the month.

Cyrogenics:

This topic will get 1 hour minimum today and the decision made within will be permanently part of word for the rest of my life.  You know what the decision is.  The hour is to drive into my head WHY.

LEAF / ROARS SPLIT

Looks like more bad news from fucking LEAF.

Last month, my $1995 doc fee got eaten by the company after they pushed through my deal.  This month I just lost 2 money makers... my 118k deal and now the 38k deal with the $400 in doc fee commission.

All these hits come at a time where I am already getting fucked over and at a low period.

If I change jobs, it'll cost me more time and take me further off my path.  It's time to make some more money here.

If I prep these new leads, and salvage from the research / FUI bin, I might be looking at the $10-20k that will change the game next year.

If I don't do it, ROARS is going to take a bigger hit later anyways.

Time to make money here.  I am building a book of business to get to the senior levels of repeat business and the commissions that come with it.

This is the path.  LEAF = Freedom to work on ROARS.  It's flexible hours / supervision, both easy enough and challenging enough, and solid pay, solid career, solid work experience.

I can't lose the foundation from which I am building everything.

At the same time, CONSISTENCY with ROARS is extraordinarly important.

So the thing to look at is splitting up my free time.  The integrity % indicator needs to give 100% for LEAF after LEAF.  And I'm thinking a 50 / 50 split is the way to go.

Even if I'm only putting in 5 hours a week into ROARS, those 5 hours keep it alive, they keep my path strong, and they build the consistent discipline I need... without them, I am truly moving backwards.  With them, I conserve the gains I've made this year.

"The Arena" frame doesn't work -- embracing pain and discipline, spartacus style, is my context level goal.  Need to think more meta than that.  You won't find it in Spartacus.

This is more like an olypian athlete.  Training all day every day is what they do.  They eat specifically (Phelps and his 12 burgers), they do complementary gym work, they do mental work.  Their day to day life structured in such a way to provide a maximum edge.

Motherfucker.  Of course it has some simple, discreet, yet charming and inspirational music.

Fortunately there's free music out there... where the fuck was it again?


2. Easy creation of slides will make the ACTUAL creation of all slides possible within 1-2 hours easily (at least to a PASSING level).... So all I need... is the software.  And I have 1-2 hours to find it, install it, and learn how to use it.

The Return of Word


Let's talk framework for a second...

My consistent discipline is getting worse and worse.

My goal was to be doing a morning ritual EVERY DAY at this point.

I'm supposed to be solid as fuck right now.

The power hour shouldn't be this thing you come into where you need to "re-establish" the context every morning... which then falls apart soon after starting.

And I certainly shouldn't be dealing with days like today and yesterday where my content (1 up hour by hour) is being flooded with trolls to the point that I'm barely pulling in "4"'s.

With a weak frame, context can only be so strong, and it buckles under pressure.  And as context goes, content flows into the new shape that the context has broken down into.

STRONG DISCIPLINE REQUIRES A STRONG FRAME.

You've read it a 100x -- you can't be an entrepreneur if you can't even start your day powerfully -- and this is all the proof you need.

More importantly, this is why being completely unreasonable to following through with "your word" is so important.

And it's a DIRECT correlation.  50% integrity of showing up to ROARS and I feel lucky if I get 1 of 2 hours in.  My goal becomes to "really" get started by 6.

Is it a coincidence that I also happen to be doing a morning ritual 50% of the time, and tracking size between 7a-10a and 1p-3p 50% of the time?

Easy to justify things with meetings, month end, deals, blah, blah, blah.  Harder to deny that hard 50% #'s across the board probably are causing each other.

The morning ritual sets the frame, but it doesn't complete it, it just sets it up.  It's completed by the 15/10/5 meditations, the 5 times you log your size, the clock in at 5, and the push to complete whichever of the 19 objectives you choose within the budgeted time frame.

Now that you see the significance of word again, it's time to get this back into your head:

YOU HAVE NO CHOICE.  YOU ALREADY CHOSE.

Your word MUST be followed as soon as you realize that following it is in question.  There are NO EXCEPTIONS.  It's not that I expect perfect integrity, but it IS that I expect an attempt to follow NO MATTER WHAT if you're in a situation where you are aware of it.

You shouldn't have any problem doing this.  You're legit.  You embrace pain and suffering.  You're willing to lose sleep and get super stressed out to follow through on discipline.  You just lost your way when it comes to what giving your word means (as defined by Landmark) and why it's important.

Time to come back to the path.  Without your word, the path disappears under the overgrowth of the jungle.  With solid word, it's like a perfectly paved road.  It is time to commit again.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE FRAME FIRST.  THEN -- AND ONLY THEN -- DOES EVERYTHING ELSE COME INTO PLAY.

There's a reason that Sundays are WAAAY better now.  It's the framed structure you setup.

So just going to say it...

If you don't do your morning ritual you are warping your WHOLE DAY.  And there's NO WAY to fix it.  If you do everything else perfect, the frame will be pretty good... maybe 90, 95% good... but it'll still be warped.  YOU MUST START YOUR DAY WITH A SOLID FRAME, THE SAME WAY YOU WOULDN'T SKIP ON FOLLOWING THE SUNDAY STRUCTURE.

Must have all 3, content is most urgent in the moment as its where the rubber hits the road, but it only works in the right context, and if the frame starts getting bent so will everything inside it

Ex.  1upping a frustration and focusing more intensely on failure instead of embracing it will cause a burnout, bad calls, and slower dialing and more mistakes.

Ex. Missing a ritual leads to unorganized power hour, weaker mindfulness, and less 1upping.

Ex. Not 1upping leads to calling slower even if youre mindful.  Like being mindful of things that are helpful in the long term like embracing emotions but not in the now (hitting call stat goals)

Justification Trolls - Eric's Brain vs. Mine, ROARS affecting LEAF calls, Guilt trolls, ...

TROLL: Eric's Brain vs. Mine:

This troll basically says, Eric has it easier than I do because he's not as clouded with thoughts / I have an over-thinking problem / ETC.

Thinking about it this way serves me by making me not worry so much about my performance, and is a stress reliever, it excuses me from my guilt.

There's layers of problems here.  One being a GUILT troll.


  • TROLL: GUILT:Why feel guilty and self hatred, vs. simply embracing that feeling as an exhilarating push forward?

    Being controlled by guilt is just stupid.  It's like anxiety -- simply mis-used energy.

    REPROGRAM: Guilt should always be a sign that I'm standing in front of a wall that I need to push through. Hating yourself because of a percieved, repeating behavior?  Well then "DONT LET THAT HAPPEN" (do the opposite behavior instead, right???  Why are you resigned??)


REPROGRAM (Eric's Brain vs. Mine):

Isn't this BLAMING & FOCUSING ON THE CATCH?  Wouldn't it be better to focus on a 1-up here and focus on "stone building" as you put it?

What, exactly, makes you feel this way, and what's one way you can think less / move on / etc to be more like Eric?

Why not think of one way you can make your brain more like how you want it to be instead of thinking about why you're a failure?

....

ROARS affecting LEAF calls:

This troll says "I'm working 60 hours a week, so that's why I can chill out a little on my call stats."

It's the EXACT OPPOSITE of everything you're trying to build and has "mass affect" of negative, mixed messaging that's screwing up all the neural pathways I'm trying to build.


REPROGRAM:

If it's all about ENJOYING pain and being excited when it happens...

...then the MORE you work and the MORE INTENSE you are the ENTIRE TIME, the MORE YOU HAVE TO ENJOY.

I'm not crazy -- I know you're not Cobey -- and Eric acknowledges that more hours is often WORSE.

But just because you're not a 6-7 yet doesn't mean things wouldn't be MORE ENJOYABLE if you got there.

On the contrary, as a 6-7 things would be so easy and more enjoyable that to even continue as a 6-7 you'd have to be making at least 80-100 calls a day while working many deals and working on ROARS for hours once you got home.

Making 70 calls and only working a few deals simply isn't enough work to maintain that level of size.  The size is a result of overcoming obstacles, without obstacles, there's no size... like effort, size is a comparison of two things.

Embracing Anger

This is not about reprogramming anger.  That's great too, but it doesn't work if you don't embrace it as well.

You have to actually separate the feeling of anger from the reaction (typically this one is a combo of BLAME and complaining.  Like I HATE XXXXX!  If only she didn't sound like a little girl.)

The blame doesn't help obviously, and that can be reprogrammed.  But more prudent is the fact that you don't currently differentiate the stressor from the reaction that makes it distress.  And as a result, you get INSTANT DISTRESS that you then always need to try to go back in and unwind.

Instead, you should enjoy the feeling of anger.  Like being upset at other people's pitching, noise level, attitude, personality, whatever.  Don't listen to the words, don't be driven down the reactive path, simply ENJOY the feeling of anger.

After all, you didn't choose it.  It's not even REAL!  How funny that it generates all these thoughts and "heat" etc.  enjoy it, it's entertaining, it's not something you need to react to.

Along these lines, interesting insight.

It could be that anger problems aren't really about the feeling of anger much at all... instead they are about how much the mind is driven by it.  Ex. Someone who's instantly and powerfully driven when anger occurs (no gap) vs. someone who has a normal "gap" between the feeling and reaction.

Probably both but I imagine the worst are the people who are highly emotional and have no gap or filter.

If this is true, and i suspect that is AT LEAST IN PART TRUE, then building up this gap is the answer to fixing anger problems.


You're not sick -- You're eating wrong

Woke up this morning feeling bad, scratchy throat, upset stomach... pretty sure I was sick.

But I wasn't sick.

This is what happens when you smoke cigarettes, don't work out, and eat McDonalds.

You are what you eat.  It's true.

Then to top that off, you fuck with your already not-so-perfect breathing, your throat, and you don't even get your health back into flow by working out.

So yeah... not only are you not on point... you actually were so bad you made your health sickly.

It's choosing the +1 vs. the +100 thing.  You're sacrificing your Q4, your happiness, your health, and your life for a little convenience and pleasure.

This is NOT COOL.

It is time to really sit down and make a change.  SOON.

This is officially preplanned as a "Y" activity any day or part of the "R" activity of getting the dryer, since BOTH help save me more time and boost the rest of my work.  I would put them on the roars 19 obj's sheet as "0" time budget extras (or take from something else to give them a budget).

The Fate of Top 10 Insomnia Remedies

Is not on my website.

Here's the thing -- I had a great idea making it a separate website, because the kind of traffic that is searching for "quick insomnia remedy" isn't the same kind of traffic looking for a deep, permanent cure to chronic insomnia.  They are the 1/4 that is more common.

Of those 1/4, there's 3 kinds of insomniacs:
  1. The person who's having trouble sleeping right now, but this isn't normally a big deal... it's honestly not THAT big of a deal right now.
    • This guy isn't going to buy anything, and makes up at least half of my traffic.
  2. The person who's been having a lot of trouble sleeping recently and is so frustrated that they are ready to buy something that'll get this problem solved in a snap
    • This guy's ready to buy sleeptracks and other affiliate offers that can be sold here.  Uncommonly, some of these guys, maybe even just out of curiosity, can be reeled in to my content at the remedies stage and will buy the basic product.
  3. The 1/10... the serious, chronic insomnia who's looking for a new fix to help them out.
    • These insomniacs are used to spending money, and may as well help me out buy buying some affiliate stuff.  They might even come back a few times and buy everything... eventually even my product... which should then ultimately result in their purchase of mastery.
Why separate them?  Wouldn't it be better to drive ALL traffic back to my site so I make more sales that actually matter????

This is a very good question, and it's worth a lot of thought:

KEEP ON 1 SITE MAKE 2 SITES
After all, more than half my keywords, and certainly the VAST MAJORITY of the insomnia traffic lies in the "remedies" set of keywords, and I want AS MUCH TRAFFIC AS I CAN GET. These are two entirely different markets -- so any selling worth while in the remedies market is going to be far more powerful and credible on a remedies based website, which means more affiliate commissions. 
It's always going to be MUCH HARDER to get them to jump through hoops like 1 site to another vs. wandering around my website and stumbling into my product. More qualified traffic to howtocureinsomnia.com, which means better SEO performance on my core site and will improve everything else I do with regards to SEO.
More anchor links to 1 site means building authority faster at one site and roping in more traffic with a google listing like:
  How To Cure Insomnia
         -Top 10 Insomnia Remedies
2 SEO-AUTHORITY-SITES supporting each other giving eachother credibility will be naturally much better for SEO building long term.
One Strong Weapon to approach the market, potential partner sites, etc.
Two Weapons for more versaltility, sneaky promotions, etc.


Keep working on this... although I'm leaning towards two sites.  Short term, it's probably a bad idea, as I would be able to mine the max traffic to 1 site easier.  Of course, I can always do it for a little while to howtocureinsomnia.com/top10insomniaremedies anyways... but it'll suck when I have to remove all internal links going to that page to hide the fact that my top10 site is a fraud.  But that will work.

Long term, there just needs to be 2 sites just because it's that much more legit.  That way I can forge relationships from 2 different angles, sell affiliate products with authority, have 2 SEO-AUTHORITY-SITES supporting eachother, etc.... all natural reasoning and logic points to this.

ONE THING DOES NEED TO BE SAID -- IN THE PAST, TOP 10 HAS BLATANTLY PROMOTED HOWTOCURE.  THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED NEXT TIME AROUND, IT HAS TO BE WAAY SNEAKY.

2018+ -- start focusing all traffic building in the remedies arena to top10insomniaremedies.com

ALSO, this will let me start an alter-ego that can go back into the forums that mr. cahoon posted in and be like "man, cahoon, what 'choo talking about?  top10ir.com dawg, just go there!"  So I can hit all the familiar places AGAIN, and in theory I'll have all that saved (i can at least trace my own backlinks) so it'll be really fast driving all these links since i'll have done it already!!

Anyways... EITHER WAY, the top 10 list does NOT belong on the home page.  This is not the place to go sending people to 10 different websites / product pages / etc... I want my home page to actually be more focused on "How to CURE insomnia."  Top 10 here is kind of a sell out.

SLEEP TIPS, however, are HUGE value for the home page.  That catches all the category 1 & 2 insomniacs who are about to leave the site but then go "Oh shit, what's this?  THERE WE GO!"

And having a "featured product" high commission sleep tracks thing going on would be pretttty sweet.

Troll: "Too Many Obstacles To Deal With"

Reprogram: 
If there's too many, why are you adding another one AND reducing your size by complaining about it?  

Being directed by your feelings of being overwhelmed just adds more to deal with (+1 problem), uses up valuable brain power and time that could be sent solving a problem (-1 solution), AND lowers your overall size so it's a lot harder to deal with the stack of problems (-25-50%+ Solution Efficiency on all solutions.)

So it's a (-2) and (-% multiplier) effect on productivity.

VS.

Getting organized, dealing with ONLY ONE AT A TIME, baby step -> RE -> 1UP, and solving the problems.

Watched the training on cornerstone today... pretty evident this is all I will ever need.

Honestly the most amazing web editor ever.  X was an amazingly rewarding investment.

X Theme Setup

So, install is more or less complete, now to the elements:
-Cornerstone -- how it customizes pages
-Customizer -- essentially all the customized work I do.  Make sure these are backed up.
-Demos -- the literal "plug and play" feature -- you load a demo and BAM.  Whole new design setup instantly

  • Immediacy - Cuts to the chase, only shows the facts, no selling.
The offer is separate from your Core High ROI Offer.  2 different entities.  Hence, the whole theory of opt-in -- my highest ROI is Mastery.

3. Believability: It's good to be bold, but the bolder you are, the harder it is to be believable. Ways to boost credibility:
  • Proof -- social, technical data, factual (research).
  • Credibility - endorsements from authority figures, high profile customers, associations and organizations that certify your work, awards and recognition, logical answers to how you're able to make your offer.

First Look: Your Touchstone
This piques his interest. Two or three of his big questions are answered in a way that intrigues and excites him, so he’s willing to dig further to see what you have.

Second Look: Believability

But, after digging deeper, if the prospect finds a truly High ROI Offer at the core, the sale is closed.

Choosing New Theme

Salient has failed me.

I cannot spend countless hours trying to build a custom theme ground up inside of salient, fighting salient every step of the way.

I need a theme that is going to make life very easy on me and can get me to where i need inside of the 8 hours I have to get there.

So time to choose a theme that is plug and play -- needs to be perfect -- video goes right there, opt in goes right here, NO CUSTOM WORK NEEDED.

Here's some that would work:
So... now the question is, code.  Do I want a theme that is drenched with code and confusing to google?  X theme looks great but it also looks like it'll have a million lines of code.

But nothing's free -- which means these are the EXACT themes designed to point back to their authors, and since they're free, they'll be used by spammers.

So that means, either buy one, or write one yourself.

By making the video grab only tiny snibbits of text and use very basic animation, they grab your attention easily and effectively... and mainly just by keeping things moving.

If the #2 best selling wordpress theme on themeforest is using this style, it probably works.  And better yet, the best internet marketers out there use this method (like Frank Kern).  So why waste time and money?  It's not like an animated version is going to give you the kind of return that justifies it.

You can always make a competiting video to replace it some day.  This will be more than good enough to start.

You can keep letting your mind ("IT") drive you around and lie to you.  You can let those imaginary squeezes and stretches in your chest make you feel like you need to do other things.  You can give in to these feelings and react to them

You will, of course, end up unhappy, defeated, not enjoying whatever it is they tell you to do, conflicted for the rest of the day, struggling, falling behind, hating life, feeling like you're getting no where... etc.

OR...

You can simply realize that the feelings are all made up.  Theres nothing going on stronger than the equivalent of you making a fist.  None of it's real and it'll be gone within seconds, at most a few minutes, of your thinking about it.

You can then push forth, embrace the pain and discipline, and grow fast back into a person who can work through great difficulties to achieve great things.

Because it's when you're tested that you have the REAL opportunities to achieve happiness.

When it's easy, you're not actually growing.  The tough spots are the real opportunities.

And of course, you will create happiness, deep pride and satisfaction with yourself, victorious, enjoying your work a lot more, getting ahead, and loving life.

YOU CAN DO IT EITHER WAY AND SINCE ALL YOU'RE REALLY DOING IS SITTING IN A CHAIR AND THINKING IT'S REALLY NOT ANY HARDER ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

Biggest Opportunity Ever, In the Blindspot?

High tension person = constantly squeezing muscles -> just relax muscles 100x a day = Lower tension

Know when to high tension and when to low tension.

same goes with

MENTAL BLOCKS

that "ahhhhrrg" in the mind.  That intense frown.  There's a squeezing that happens in the mind whenever i have a feeling.  my feelings themselves are mental squeezing.

and if i just learned that i didn't need to have those -- that i could let them go as they occured -- it could possibly free up over 50% of lost willpower i burn up all the time doing this.

just like squeezing the muscles, the mind has squeezes associated with feelings (resistance, pain, aggrevation etc) and if i learn i can just let those go instead of holding the squeeze, i would not have nearly as hard of a time moving forward.

Possibly the biggest opportunity yet.

Comes down the crazy tennis teacher telling me that im a high strung person.

The answer is not the solution.  This is an idea who's time is near.

There Will Be More Blitz Days

You cant not follow your word regarding tracking size just cuz its a blitz.  You still need to track hour by hour.  Period.

The not winning no comtest is bullshit and you know it.  You are putting a gun to your head and pulling the trigger when that happens.  Its the integrity destroyer troll... basically saying since i had 1 failure im gonna stack them on now.  Worst thing you could ever do to yourself in the work place.

So instead, say finishing the race and following still builds habits essential to the succesz of any entrepreneur.

Now, the 8am thing.  I got no workaround for this.  As an entrepreneur id choose not to work through that and instead fix it.  If it was not fixable, then id work through.  But it is fixable and they still wont fix it.  On high quality nick leads, this is unacceptable, and until that fix is made, i will refuse to blitz.

Q3 PTC Day 82

The final CDH!!

It's been a pretty good Q3, all things considered.

I got more consistent with ROARS than ever through a period of time that was QUITE difficult because the deterioration of my relationship with Sarah and my longest commission dry spell of all time.

I sustained a fairly decent size, even if it was a regression in the second half.

I pushed my limits a bit in a few areas and grew a deeper understanding and new skills in the areas of mindfulness, active NLP, and attraction.

Dividing 150 hrs into 19 objectives

The big hint here is the "even if it looks like shit get it DONE first then improve".

There is NOT ENOUGH TIME to do all of them right.

And that's the WHOLE POINT.

In business, there's always going to be a quality vs. quantity type if balancing act.

You need GOALs so that you are...
  • Very selective, 
  • Focused, 
  • Prioritizing high value objective over lower value ones (and just letting some projects go or get very little attention if they're not worth much)
  • Managing your time well (using it as a limited resource since thats what it is and making the most of it)
  • Actually get through a lot of stuff
  • ETC ETC ETC
The whole game of being an effective businessman comes from this practice of goal setting and allocating time as a limited resource.

Otherwise your just an artist.  You can keep trying to perfect it forever but you'll never make any money.

Can I pull it off?

How will you complete them on time?

If this were a school project and it was DUE by 12/21/2016, how would you make sure it gets completed?

Let's get in the mentality of making an EPIC Q4.

NO MORE EXCUSES -- if any task is worthy of more time, and that'll set you behind, then get a "good enough" draft version done and list the additional stuff / final draft that you want to do as a new objective to be completed at a future date.

Q4 is going to be about completing EVERY item on the list.  Even if they all look like SHIT and only work on certain PCs and need more work... get them DONE.

Any set backs, additional objectives, obstacles, etc. go on the list for getting done AFTER these 19 core objectives.

This will keep me pushing for a large size instead of using new obstacles as an excuse to fall behind.  As long as I can allow that to happen I'll NEVER be successful as an entrepreneur or get to the size I need to be at to succeed as a business owner.

By making it my goal to get a "first pass" version of every item done within a time period, I'll have a much better idea about how to set my goals for the final draft versions, since I'll have dabbled enough in everything to get a good sense of the scale of how much work lies ahead.

Why you can't apply word to things like "I will be size 5"

It's because giving you word can only work where it is applicable.

And it DOESN'T APPLY to UNKNOWNS.  Any time the question "How do I apply word here?", determining if it's 100% unreasonable or not is impossible... even if it's 99.9% vs. 0.1%, there's a grey zone, and it begs the question.

100% Unreasonable Word only applies to areas that are 100% Clear on What To Do.
(100% unreasonable where 100% rational)

Saying "I give my word to always go for size 5" doesn't work because you'll be making calls and an urgent email will come up, and then you won't know how to apply it, how to measure, etc... and you'll need to figure it all out... and then it's unclear if you're unreasonably following a choice or not.

Word has to be clear.  It works on the morning ritual because it is incredibly clear: "Regardless of sleep, dream states, etc etc... at 430 you will pop out of bed and go directly to cleaning mouth guard, drinking water, throwing on music and doing exercises."

The more clearly defined, the better.  If it's unclear HOW TO BE 100% UNREASONABLE, then the concept doesn't apply.

Starting to ramp up for Q4 now is important.  Vacation time is NOT important, I'm not overwhelmed or over worked.  I've been working 40-50 hour weeks which pretty much IS a vacation for me.  I feel fresh.

So it's time to start Q4 now.  Like last year when I had a ramp up week.  Except this time Q4 ramp up week is also the final week of Q3.  And like any ramp up week, the scores don't factor in to Q4's final #'s.  They just factor into Q3's final #'s.

Morning Ritual.  Let's review and make a Q4 decision on whether or not it will be word, and if it is word, then the significance of word must be reviewed.

It's pretty clear that I've lost all grasp on Landmark's concept of what it is to give your word and the significance of it.

WORD:

The point of giving your word, as landmark defined, is to take the human BS out of the picture completely so that all that remains is the sentient being.

It's saying that when you wake up, it doesn't matter if you are 99% adamantly against doing a morning ritual.  It means that none of that even factors in.  It means that the sentient being takes control and walks the human through the motions regardless of what it's thinking or what it's feelings are, or how strong all of that is.

As long as it's not crazy, the choice WILL be followed and won't be reasoned with, stopped, or delayed on account of the human nature that is tethered to the sentient being within.

It's the only "true integrity" because it's the only integrity that will not be reasoned with.  It's true discipline.

And THAT'S what I've lost completely.

As long as that's not important to me, the morning ritual is a lost cause.  So it's time to choose.

GOALS

This is the project for the rest of Q3 (meaning this week since this is the last week) in the spirit of ramping up for an EPIC Q4.

I have a list of 19 OBJECTIVES.  The goal will be to complete them all in Q4 so I can get to traffic in early 2017.

Part of the goal will be to sort other obstacles and objectives into a list of "to do later" so I train myself to stay consistent to the objectives at hand.

19 Objectives.  12 weeks, 10 Sundays, 150 hours.  Can I pull it off?

How will you complete them on time?

If this were a school project and it was DUE by 12/21/2016, how would you make sure it gets completed?

Let's get in the mentality of making an EPIC Q4.

NO MORE EXCUSES -- if any task is worthy of more time, and that'll set you behind, then get a "good enough" draft version done and list the additional stuff / final draft that you want to do as a new objective to be completed at a future date.

Q4 is going to be about completing EVERY item on the list.  Even if they all look like SHIT and only work on certain PCs and need more work... get them DONE.

Any set backs, additional objectives, obstacles, etc. go on the list for getting done AFTER these 19 core objectives.

This will keep me pushing for a large size instead of using new obstacles as an excuse to fall behind.  As long as I can allow that to happen I'll NEVER be successful as an entrepreneur or get to the size I need to be at to succeed as a business owner.

By making it my goal to get a "first pass" version of every item done within a time period, I'll have a much better idea about how to set my goals for the final draft versions, since I'll have dabbled enough in everything to get a good sense of the scale of how much work lies ahead.

Reprogram: It's pathetic to be affected by petty things.

Petty little things happen all the time.  Every moment I carry it instead of refocusing, I make myself more and more pathetic.

This is a hard/intense/powerful problem, ANYONE would be distracted/frustrated/etc.

This leads to "It's OKAY to be trolled, it's cool to shrink, it's not my fault I'm getting smaller and my day is going to shit"

If I even get a little better at handling an obstacle this powerful, I am making major progress.

Actually... still nothing from Soph... couldn't wrap up tmw even if I wanted to (which I DON'T)... so f it tracfone sunday.

Budget Balance Sheet


This things really coming along.  Mint is nearly matching at this point and EVERYTHING is accounted for with some sort of budget (even if the budget for the category is $0.)

I have a couple of concerns:

$3200 / month from LEAF doesn't sound like a lot, but that's AFTER taxes.  That means nearly $40k / year AFTER taxes.  Which is something like $75k.  So kind of concerning, because it means I need to have some bigger months near the end of this year to get there.

Of course, there's syndication money, however that brings up my second concern -- the impending IRS hit of 2017.

Currently, I have not properly accounted for untaxed income that's been floating me through the great drought of May - August.

That means that my current "positive cash" situation is ACTUALLY a "negative cash" situation when accounting for the hit that's going to come.

And I can say it's probably around $750 or so and factor that in... but the truth is I don't really know.   And this is going to come back to haunt me unless I figure it out or my cash situation really improves (ultimately, the only legitimate way to go is to FIGURE IT OUT.)

Web Design

Web design - so that it fits the slides.  I may need to remake the slides, and if so, I need to design them in such a way so that it fits the website design.

1. I am not so sure about the color scheme on my slides now that echo has so courteously pointed out how lame it is.

2. An all black BG will not look good with this theme.  The point of choosing the theme originally was that it fit the site.

Preferably, I'd rather go with the old theme on the new site.  Just need to think, hey, is this going to work as a theme??  I don't want it to be lame...

Having a picture BG is a good idea.  It reels people in and adds a degree of professionalism.  Especially if it's a solid insomnia type of theme.

So, couple hours later I've gone back to my first intuition from a year ago when I chose Salient.

The reason is, my HOME PAGE CANNOT be a squeeze page!  It can HAVE squeeze pages on the site, just not the main page.

The main page needs to be attractive to potential partners who want to link to my site.  It needs to lead off like a squeeze page (hence, automatically filling the screen with the squeeze), to attract mass opt-ins, but it needs to scroll down to show off blog features, articles, etc.

It needs to show that it's a VALUABLE, AUTHORITATIVE SITE, dedicated to helping across the board with insomnia, not just pushing a single product.

It needs to look professional and like a system or company dedicated to the insomnia market.

So now on to find a professional, smooth, background image.  And since this is a for profit image, I need a public domain image here.

Unfortunately, I can't figure out a nice way to have the header at the top and have it be transparent.  For WHATEVER reason, this is not supported per Salient support.

This is a problem, because that's what I'm hoping for per the theme chosen above.

All I can think of right now is finding a way to put some custom code on the page to make my own custom stuff show near the top.  I think I should be able to get a css code in there or even be able to edit the "header.php" or something to put it in there manually.

Like how naturalcuresforinsomnia.org has this in their Stylesheet (style.css) to do the background at the top:
